It has just been announced that pop performer Beyonce is slated to cover Amy Winehouse‘s “Back to Black” for the upcoming film adaptation of “The Great Gatsby.”
According to E! News, Andre 3000 will join the “Bow Down” songstress for the ambitious cover which is set to be featured heavily throughout the film’s promotional campaign.
This marks the second time the pair have worked together following their duet on 2011’s “Party” from Beyonce’s R&B driven album ‘4.’ It’s also worth nothing that Jay Z is producing the soundtrack for the movie, with a source adding: “It’s a very different take on ‘Back to Black.”
When Beyonce has done covers in the past she usually tends to stick to the original song’s core melody, so it will be interesting to hear how she’ll make Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black” her own by putting a unique, creative spin on it.
“The Great Gatsby,” directed Baz Luhrman, is set to hit theaters May 15th and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire.
