Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel took great lengths to make sure their “top secret” wedding in Italy Friday (Oct 19) was just that.
Justin and Jessica reportedly kept the details of their big day under wraps, and tricked their guests by first flying them to Germany before transporting them via private jet to Italy in an effort to keep the true location of the wedding a mystery up until the very last moment.
“Justin wanted to be very slick with it,” one anonymous wedding guest told Us Weekly.
Another source told the UK’s Sun that Justin and Jessica wanted their wedding to be extremely private, so they had blinding spotlights placed outside the church to prevent people (or the paparazzi) from taking pictures.
“Powerful lights were focused away from the church to keep prying eyes away. There were also masses of security guards outside the venue,” the source said.
According to members of Justin’s family, the week-long wedding celebration kicked off last Monday when the guests were flown to Germany. Upon landing, they were given itineraries and tickets to the south of Italy, where the actual wedding festivities took place.
Timberlake and Biel said their vows before an estimated 80 loved ones in the church on the grounds of the five-star Borgo Egnazia resort.
A source said the seaside hotel was decorated with hundreds of white flowers, and guests cheered and threw heart-shaped flower petals when Justin and Jessica were officially pronounced husband and wife.
Among the wedding guests were SNL’s Andy Samberg, rapper/producer Timbaland and Jessica’s “Seventh Heaven” co-star Beverly Mitchell.
Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel have been dating since 2007, and have broken up twice (in 2009 and 2011) during their 5 years together. They’ve been engaged since last December, when Justin popped the question with a 6-carat ring while the couple was on vacation in Wyoming.
“We couldn’t ask for a better daughter-in-law,” JT’s aunt Jane Harless gushed to Celebuzz. “We just love her.”
Aunt Jane continued, “I wish them the best and I know they’re going to be very happy. I’m excited he has found somebody he enjoys to be with.”
