New York City is known as the city that never sleeps … but tonight, the streets of NYC are pretty much bare as New Yorkers prepare for the wrath of Hurricane Irene; the effects of which can already been seen in the photo here.

Subways in New York City are closed (for the first time in history) and a brave reporter was able to capture what is being called the “beginning” of Hurricane Irene’s path of destruction (the flooding of the city’s underground transit system).

Pray for NYC…
