Saturday, July 23rd was a sad day for the music world as it was announced that troubled icon Amy Winehouse had passed away.

Due to the star’s difficult past involving drugs and alcohol, reports surfaced all over the world that she had died of an overdose. However, it has emerged that the “Rehab” singer’s cause of death is unknown after an autopsy was conducted on Monday.

According to the Metropolitan Police, no cause of death for Amy Winehouse has been established yet, and further toxicology tests will be needed to determine how she died. The results aren’t expected to come back for another 2 – 4 weeks.

Speaking with MTV News on Monday Winehouse’s rep Chris Goodman gave details of the singer’s sudden passing. He said, “She was in her bedroom after saying she wanted to sleep, and when he went to wake her he found she wasn’t breathing. He called the emergency services straight away. He was very shocked. At this stage no one knows how she died. She died alone in bed.”

A private funeral service for Amy Winehouse was held today in London.
