Former First Lady Betty Ford, widow of Former President Gerald Ford, has died.

Betty Ford, an outspoken advocate for women’s rights, is also known as the founder of the Betty Ford Center for substance abuse, one of the premiere rehab facilities in the whole world.

Thanks to Betty Ford, who struggled with her own alcohol issues, folks like Lindsay Lohan, Kelsey Grammer, Chevy Chase, Elizabeth Taylor, Anna Nicole Smith, Ozzy Osbourne, Drew Barrymore, David Hasselhoff and more have all had a chance to redeem themselves and battle their alcohol addiction problems without having to serve serious jail time.

President Barack Obama said Ford distinguished herself through her courage and compassion. He also said that as the nation’s first lady … she was a powerful advocate for women’s health and women’s rights.

Betty Ford was 93 years old.
