In regards to donating what is considered to be “blood money” from performing for Libyan dictator Muammar Gadhafi, Beyonce has already “been there done that.”
Last week Nelly Furtado made headlines after she announced that she was going to donate the $1 million dollars she received from a private performance for Gadhafi, and with Mariah Carey and others also donating their money, many wondered what Beyonce would do with hers.
Turns out … she donated her money to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund last year, long before mainstream news caught wind of the Libya situation.
“All monies paid to Beyoncé for her performance at a private party at Nikki Beach St. Barts on New Year’s Eve 2009, including the commissions paid to her booking agency, were donated to the earthquake relief efforts in Haiti, over a year ago,” Beyonce’s reps said in a statement. “Once it became known that the third party promoter was linked to the Qaddafi family, the decision was made to put that payment to a good cause.”
