After spending three years behind bars, Da Brat has been sprung from prison!
Da Brat (real name: Shawntae Harris) had been serving time due to an assault charge, and although information on her release is very scarce, rapper/producer Jermaine Dupri (a good friend of hers) made a public announcement this week that she is finally out.
In October 2007, Harris was found guilty of assault after allegedly attacking a waitress at a nightclub in Atlanta. The femcee was ultimately sentenced to 3 years in prison, 200 hours of community service and 7 years probation.
It’ll be interesting to see what Da Brat does now that she’s a free woman. We wonder what she thinks about that whole “Nicki Minaj” vs. “Lil Kim” beef and whose side she’s on!
