Fantasia Barrino has been forced to do a little damage control this week after rumors suggested that the “American Idol” winner was pregnant.
While the singer/actress does admit to gaining weight, it’s not because she’s pregnant. In fact, her manager Brian Dickens says that her recent weight gain was for her lead role in the upcoming Mahalia Jackson biopic.
“Fantasia is 100% not pregnant. The only thing she’s pregnant with is prosperity,” Dickens told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview. “In fact, she’s just signed on to play the lead in Mahalia and has been told to gain 30 to 45 pounds for the role.”
As we previously reported, Fantasia will play Mahalia Jackson in a feature-film adaption of the 1993 book “Got to Tell It: Mahalia Jackson, Queen of Gospel,” which will recount the life of the singer, who was also a civil rights activist and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The biopic is scheduled to go into production this April and is scheduled to be released in December.
