Christina Aguilera suffered public humiliation last night (Sun. Feb 6) when she flubbed the words to the National Anthem during her performance at the Super Bowl. And now just a day later, in an effort to try and safe face, the singer has released an official statement apologizing for the mishap.

Peep her statement below:

“I got so caught up in the moment of the song that I lost my place,” Christina shared in a statement to “I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through.”
