Let’s be real for a second here. It’s no secret that Amber Rose was a nobody before she hooked up with rapper Kanye West. We know that, and she knows that… and apparently she doesn’t mind admitting it!

In the latest issue of YRB Magazine, the stripper turned fashion model discusses how she grew up poor and how her highly publicized relationship with Kanye allowed her to come up in the world. She also touches on how she feels as though Yeezy saved her life:

“Honestly, Kanye saved my life, and I don’t even think about what I would have been; I just think about what I’m gonna be…”

You damn right he did! (LOL) Check out more quotes from Amber’s interview, along with her Marilyn Monroe inspired glamor shoot, with YRB below…

On growing up poor:
“I grew up very poor, raised by a single mother. We didn’t have much as far as material things, but we had love and we had fun all the time. She raised me to have confidence and always taught me to be humble no matter what God brought my way… I’m confident in everything I do in life.”

On being a celebrity and the paparazzi making her nervous:
“Well, I don’t look at myself as [a celebrity]. I’m just a dope chick from South Philly!” Amber laughingly proclaims. “I mean, it’s crazy when fans come up to me and cry and just want a hug from me. It bugs me out! But it’s really cool. Sometimes it does get overwhelming because, for example, I like to be on the beach with my man with no top on… I’m very comfortable with my body… But there’s no privacy – that’s the only thing that overwhelms me. Every time I see a light flash I think it’s the paparazzi. Those fuckers give me anxiety.”

On her Ford Modeling Agency contract she signed in 2009:
“I’m lucky because I get to keep my womanly figure, and that’s very important for me and the young girls that look up to me – that they can have curves and breasts, hips, and ass and still feel beautiful.

I have always been a fashionista ever since I was a kid, so it was a dream come true. It’s an adrenaline rush to walk down the runway. I never thought this would happen to me… [Modeling] is just the beginning for me. I want to explore all different avenues of life and build a career for myself. But I would love to keep modeling for campaigns and magazines. It’s fun to get glammed up!”
