Actor Samuel L. Jackson is in talks of playing world-famous Civil Rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Broadway. Jackson is said to be in New York reviewing for the play, “The Mountaintop,” which follows the events of the night before leading up to the MLK  assassination in Memphis, Tennessee in 1968.

The “Pulp Fiction” actor, who has a personal connection to the play because he was an usher at Dr. King’s funeral in Atlanta, has been offered a $50,000 weekly salary if he decides to take on the role. “The Mountaintop,” due to hit Broadway this Fall, was named best play at the 2010 Olivier Awards in London.
