Pop superstar Mariah Carey performed live in concert for her “Angels’ Advocate Tour” last Thursday night (Jan 21) at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
Mariah announced last week that she will be releasing her own brand of champagne very soon. And we all know how much she loves champagne.
Just a week after she gave a bizarre acceptance speech at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards – which she blamed on “splashes” of champagne” – the diva revealed she plans to unveil her own bubbly. Mariah revealed on Twitter: “Seriously, Angel champagne (rose) by MC coming soon!”
The 39-year-old singer-and-actress also joked in her tweet about her rambling speech at the awards, where she was named Breakthrough Actress for her performance in Precious: Based On The Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire. Mariah joked: “Didn’t realise they put the champagne on the tables, so we WOULDN’T drink it!”
The star had previously jokingly blamed Precious director Lee Daniels for her behaviour at the awards, and said she didn’t eat enough as she was rushing to get to the ceremony on time. Mariah said: “The thing is me and Lee hadn’t see each other in a long time, and then he was presenting my award, so he starts off immediately with inside jokes. We had splashes of champagne, and I love Lee but he’s a bad influence,” she laughed.
Mariah also said people shouldn’t take the speech too seriously. “If people don’t understand me and think I’m just like this girl that stands by a microphone and sings Hero, then they’re definitely not going to get me. But if people knew me better, they would understand I have a sense of humour, and basically that’s what gets me through life.”
