Tyler Perry‘s latest film, Madea Goes to Jail, ended its opening weekend at the top of movie charts with $41 million in ticket sales making this Perry’s biggest movie release ever! Figures released Monday show that the number one movie in North America this weekend was Madea Goes to Jail, with Taken coming in at number 2 way behind Madea with only $11 million in ticket sales.
As expected, “Madea Goes to Jail” grabbed the top spot, though no one could have predicted the $41.1 million the comedy brought in. The last Madea outing, “Madea’s Family Reunion,” had an opening of $30 million this same weekend in 2006. Who wants to put bets on Perry’s next installment debuting at $50 million?
