R&B Singer Usher has rehired his mom, Jonetta Patton, as his manager and has terminated his previous management with Benny Medina. According to an unofficial source from PEOPLE:

“He wanted her to come back on board and she decided to. He had really poor management and wanted her back.”

It also cited that it could also be the fact that Usher’s latest album, Here I Stand (LaFace), didn’t even sell half of 2004’s Confessions. Usher’s first week sales of Here I Stand was 433,000 copies.

Benny Medina explained his views on Usher’s choice to part from his management:

“With an artist like Usher, the bar is set really high. Whether it was management, marketing or the music, we achieved a number one single and a number one album. It is a completely new day and time in music now. In four years, his audience, demographic, and musical direction has changed. Records like Lil Wayne’s ‘Lollipop’ are the type of phenomena that ‘Yeah’ was in 2004. I had a great time and we parted ways amicably.”

Usher stated in VIBE Magazine that he “retired” his mom and that he didn’t fire her around the time that he was engaged to his now wife Tameka Foster-Raymond. Usher’s career has not tanked but his new album is solid. Here I Stand is in stores now!
