Although Lady Gaga did rush the release of her latest single “Applause,” and put herself in direct competition with Katy Perry, who just dropped her new song “Roar,” it doesn’t mean they’re sub-tweeting each other on some “Bitch, I got the next No. 1” type stuff.

Gaga said as much when she stopped by Ryan Seacrest’s morning radio show. Taking issue with some people who instinctively put two pop stars against each other, she said, “Because look, we both just happened to want to put our singles out within a week of each other … And it’s not necessarily convenient for everyone and may be a little bit awkward … But we don’t need to force-feed this negativity into it until everyone explodes.”

“I really like Katy Perry,” Gaga added, “and I like her fans.”

This was Lady Gaga’s way of stopping an online knife fight between her Little Monsters and Katy Perry’s KatyCats. I had no idea Katy Perry named her fans. Although I hate this trend overall, that name is kind of cute, sis. Gold star for you.

But yes, Gaga didn’t try to sabotage Katy Perry and the reality is, they’re both about to make millions more off each of their new respective projects. Hand clap for the rich with your broke, beefing ass.
