“Two and a Half Men” creator Chuck Lorre has got to be a happy camper right about now. (Finally, right?)

After months of running the CBS publicity machine, (helped along by the infamous Charlie Sheen, his wild antics and the whole him vs. Chuck Lorre thing!), the show’s 9th season was watched by 27.7 million viewers!

The Hollywood Reporter explained:

Nearly 28 million viewers watched the 9 p.m. premiere of Men on CBS. The show also pulled in a 10.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and a 12.2 rating among viewers 25-54.

That’s a huge jump – nearly 90 percent among total viewers – compared to last season’s bow, which averaged 14.6 million and 4.9 in the 18-49 demo and 6.1 in the 25-54 demo.

While 27 million viewers is a lot for a sitcom, let’s not forget that this was probably the most highly anticipated event in prime-time television.

So it will definitely be interesting to see how good (or bad) the show does from this point forward.
