Philanthropist and entrepreneur Russell Simmons is bringing an affordable clothing line to the popular retail giant known as Walmart. He’s set to bring American Classic, his new clothing line, to 350 Wal-Mart stores across the country following the February 15th launch at a store in the Chicago area.
The items – including knit and woven shirts, sweater vests, jeans, casual sports shoes – are priced between $9.99 and $29, with most of the line carrying a price tag at less than $15.Flat screen TVs featuring the mogul describing his latest brand will be placed in most of the stores carrying the line as part of the deal.
Simmons, who launched his Phat Farm line of clothing in 1992, sold the brand in 2004 to Kellwood Industries for $140 million in cash. He stepped down from the CEO position of Phat Farm in 2007 but remains a fixture in the fashion world with his brands Russell Simmons-Argyle culture and Atman.
This is definitely a good look for Uncle Russ, especially with the recession and everything!
