Janet Jackson Cancels “Rock Witchu” Tour!

The Associated Press is reporting that Janet Jackson has cancelled the remaining dates of her “Rock Witchu” tour. This news comes just short of a month after the singer restarted the tour.

The 42-year-old singer is not choreographing any makeup dates for the seven “Rock Witchu” tour performances that were initially postponed because of her illness “due to conflicts in the singer’s schedule,” said a statement released by tour organizer Live Nation on Tuesday.

The canceled stops, originally scheduled Sept. 29 to Oct. 13, include: Montreal; Boston; Philadelphia; Greensboro, N.C.; Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Uncasville, Conn.; and Syracuse, N.Y.

Jackson’s publicist previously said she had been suffering from migraine-associated vertigo, which led to her canceling the string of shows. She was being treated for the illness, which is characterized by dizziness, imbalance and other symptoms.

If you were one of those poor fans who just “lived in the wrong city at the wrong time” and missed out on the tour, click here to read Terrell’s review!

Mos Def is a Wanted Man!

The word on the sidewalk is that rapper/actor Mos Def (pictured above as “Chuck Berry” in Cadillac Records) is wanted by Las Vegas police! The rapper, whose real name is Dante Terrell, has been accused of ripping a camera from the neck of photographer Volker Correll, and has been charged with robbery and destruction of property. Police say they expect Mos Def to turn himself in. The photographer says he was cut on his left hand during the alleged scuffle and court reports show that repairs to his camera add up to $178.

OMG wow, a little cut and $170…

Beyonce Volunteers her Voice for Obama’s Inauguration

When President-Elect Obama is sworn into office on Tuesday, January 20th 2009, you might be hearing a song from R&B singer Beyonce. The “If I Were A Boy” singer has personally offered to sing at the historical event:

“I’m there. I can’t wait. I feel like all of us, we’re ready to do whatever we have to do. Whatever they want — if they need me to volunteer, they need me to sing, I’m there, and I’m ready,” a giddy Beyonce said in an interview the day after Barack Obama made history in becoming the nation’s first elected black president. The singer couldn’t stop beaming after Obama’s win over Republican John McCain on Tuesday. In fact, she was so inspired, she wore a blue suit and tie in honor of Obama — with stiletto heels that were red, white and blue.

Perfect Timing, Indeed!

Robert Kennedy must have been a psychic because in 1968 he said the following:

“Things are moving so fast in race relations a Negro could be president in 40 years. There’s no question about it, in the next 40 years a Negro can achieve the same position that my brother has. Prejudice exists and probably will continue to, but we have tried to make progress and we are making progress. We are not going to accept the status quo.”

And here we are, 2008, no more or no less than 40 years later, and we have elected our first Black president – Barack Obama! It’s been 3 days, and we here at Gossip On This are still in awe. These 74 days will not move quickly enough for us!

Oprah on Obama’s Win: “It Feels Like Hope Won”

Even Oprah can somehow separate herself from the most famous celebrities making her seem even more powerful and influential than what she already is. Celebrities like Beyonce, Jay-Z, Diddy, T.I., and more were politely shooed away by President-Elect Obama prior to his victory speech last night at Grant Park Chicago. The president-elect extended his welcome to the innaugration in January though. But Oprah was allowed to cheer Obama on amongst the crowd of 200,000 in Chicago last night, and said the following to British cable network BBC:

“It feels like hope won,” the TV icon told Britain’s BBC. “It feels like there’s a shift in consciousness. It feels like something really big and bold has happened here, like nothing ever in our lifetimes did we expect this to happen.”

Soulja Boy Shouts out the Slave Masters

PHOTO: GETTY / WIRE

Soulja Clown thought it’d be a good idea to give a shout-out to slave masters, thanking them for taking black people out of Africa. Here’s what the fool said to BET’s Toure at last month’s Hip-Hop Awards in Atlanta.

I asked [Soulja Boy], “What historical figure do you most hate?” He was stumped. I said, “Others have said Hitler, bin Laden, the slave masters…” He said, “Oh wait! Hold up! Shout out to the slave masters! Without them we’d still be in Africa.” My jaw, at this point, was on the ground.”We wouldn’t be here,” he continued, having no idea how far in it he’d stepped, “to get this ice and tattoos.”

And he was serious…

[VIDEO PREMIERE] T-Pain F/ DJ Khaled – “Karaoke”

The official GOT video premiere of T-Pain‘s brand new video featuring Dj Khaled. Titled “Karaoke the song is a jab at artists, with the exception of rappers Kanye West and Lil Wayne as mentioned by the song, who are biting his style. He’s talking to you, Diddy! But I’m a little disturbed about the part of the song where he says his daughter told you to stop sucking her daddy’s you know what. He went a little far with that one…

Breaking News: Barack Obama Elected President!

PHOTO: AFP / GETTY IMAGES

We hear at Gossip On This called it months ago (back in January during the primaries) but CNN is projecting that Barack Obama has won the 2008 presidential election. WE DID IT! Not only have we elected the first African American president in the history of the United States of America, but we have put someone in office who can possibly turn this country around. It’s very doubtful that he’ll be able to restore our country 100% over the next 8 years, but he has a better chance of doing it than old man McLame.

It’s surreal to believe that all of this is a reality…

CNN projects that Barack Obama will be the nation’s 44th president. As polls closed on the West coast, the Illinois senator was projected to receive enough electoral votes to pass the 270-vote threshold. Obama is projected to win California, Washington, Oregon and Hawaii. He also is projected to win Virginia, a state that hasn’t voted for a Democratic president since 1964.

As Obama built up a commanding lead over Sen. John McCain, senior aides to the Arizona senator were growing pessimistic about his chances. When asked if they saw a path to victory, two senior McCain aides said no.

Click here to read more! And follow the break to check out a video of his historical victory speech.

Guess Who’s Voting?!

Jennifer Hudson Says Goodbye to Slain Family Members

PHOTO: GETTY IMAGES

Dreamgirl Jennifer Hudson paid her final respects to her mother, her brother, and her nephew yesterday at a private funeral service in Chicago. But she wasn’t there alone. According to the Chicago Tribune, the singer had the support of over 2,500 mourners, including fellow celebrities Fantasia Barrino, Oprah Winfrey, Usher, Missy Elliot, and more.

The day began with the estimated 2,500 mourners filing past the open caskets of her mother, Darnell Donerson; her brother, Jason; and her nephew, Julian King. Shortly before the funeral service commenced at Apostolic Church of God on the South Side, Hudson rose from her second-row pew and spent a few moments with each family member, attendees said. She went first to Julian, 7, who was dressed in white to match his casket.

She then moved to her mother, the matriarch who encouraged her to try out for “American Idol” and wouldn’t leave her Englewood home despite her younger daughter’s fame. The actress lingered at her mother’s light pink casket and gently touched Donerson before leaning down to kiss her goodbye.

Hudson paused at her brother’s blue casket before returning to her seat, where she joined her fiance, reality-TV star David “Punk” Otunga, and her sister, Julia. Hudson’s composure amid the heartbreaking goodbye became the day’s defining moment for many mourners.

“Jennifer is the pillar,” family friend Glover Lewis said as he left the Woodlawn church. “It’s obvious she’s holding the family together.”
