Lady Gaga kept things very light and simple for her 2018 Grammys performance.

Sitting in front of grand piano covered in feathers that looked like angel wings, Gaga played an emotional rendition of her Joanne album’s title track and dedicated her performance to her late aunt Joanne, who died in 1974 of lupus complications at 19 years old.

“This is for my father’s late sister, Joanne,” said Gaga, who was accompanied by Mark Ronson on the guitar. “This is for love and compassion even when you can’t understand.”

Following a brief pause, Gaga then segued into her hit single “Million Reasons.”
