Mischa Barton, best known for playing bi-curious, emotionally unstable, poor-little-rich girl Marissa Cooper on the teen soap The O.C. has a new claim to fame thanks to a recent Instagram post.
The actress, clad in a bikini and holding a glass of wine while on board a yacht, commented on the Alton Sterling shooting.
“I’m truly heartbroken to watch videos like the #altonsterling execution,” Barton wrote in the since-deleted post. “This may have been going on forever in the United States but thank god the pigs get caught on camera now. Its unthinkable and an embarrassment to America. The country I was brought up in.”
Needless to say there was some blowback. New York Daily News stated, “Mischa Barton’s Instagram post about Alton Sterling was the most insensitive thing in the history of the Internet.”
of theBarton went viral and Twitter was all abuzz with some choice words for and about the lovely Miss Barton.
@thedapperdiner Because its easy to float away from these problems when you on a yacht.

Mischa, perhaps sensing that she may have missed the boat (pun intended) has since apologized, “I’m human, I’m not perfect, and I’m sorry if my Instagram post went out of context,” she wrote on Twitter. “I didn’t mean to offend anyone.”
