Did “Basketball Wives L.A.” star Gloria Govan and Matt Barnes of the Los Angeles Clippers secretly secretly get hitched over the weekend in Las Vegas?
According to Necole Bitchie and the Las Vegas Journal Review, they did!
The LV Journal reports that on Sunday (Sep 23) Matt and Gloria got married at the Little Church of The West — a historic wedding chapel and landmark in Vegas in front of a small group of friends, including Matt’s L.A. Clippers teammate DeAndre Jordan, who served as the best man.
And the newlyweds, who were in Sin City celebrating Gloria’s sister Laura’s birthday, were spotted at the marriage bureau the following Monday applying for a marriage license, which Necole Bitchie was able to dig up. (See below)
In a recent interview with Joy Daily TV, Gloria hinted that when she and Matt decide to get married, they won’t be making a big deal about it:
Marriage isn’t necessarily a huge priority for me. Matt and I are working on our relationship in terms of being parents first and foremost, being friends secondly and like I said, we had so much growth, we have to get to know each other. I know it’s in the future, it’s just not tomorrow. I think when it happens, everyone will be surprised because I don’t think we will make a big deal out of it.
Anyone who’s been following Gloria and Matt’s tumultuous rollercoaster of a relationship knows that the couple broke off their previous engagement (and called off their wedding just days before it was scheduled to take place), but stayed together, only to call it quits on their relationship about a year later.
After going their separate ways for about eight months, Gloria and Matt got back together, and they haven’t looked back since. (Sidebar: Matt refuses to appear on BBWLA because he says it “ruined [their] relationship.”)
So the “secret wedding” isn’t a huge surprise, but in any event … congrats!
