At just 25 (going on 26) years old, Drake has accomplished what many only dream of.

He’s been a part of a super successful TV show, he’s a successful rap artist, an accomplished songwriter and has basically assisted with the creation a new genre of Hip-Hop people like to call “Emo Rap.”

Drake raps. Drake sings. Drake raps and sings. But to consider him to be the FIRST person to successfully rap and sing would be taking it a bit far.

But Drake doesn’t see it that way.

From the Jewish Chronicle:

“There were people who incorporated melody before me,” says Drake, talking backstage at the 02 in south-east London, where 18,000 people have converged to see him play the biggest concert of his career, “but I would deem myself the first person to successfully rap and sing.”

He considers the question of his persona and agrees that: “Yes, there are aspects of it that are new in the rap world. But it’s not a gimmick. I just sort of exist and people embrace it. I’m one of the few artists who gets to be himself every day. It doesn’t take me six hours to get ready and I don’t have to wake up in the morning and remember to act like this or talk like this. I just have to be me. That’s one of the favourite parts of my life – I’ve done this purely by being myself.”

Oh, really? The FIRST person to successfully rap and sing?

Not the second, third or fourth … but the absolute FIRST?

Drake must have never heard of Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, Missy Elliott, Nelly, Queen Latifah, Mos Def, Akon, Cee-Lo Green, Ja RuleAndre f**king 3000!!!

So no, Drake, no. You are absoutely, positively NOT the first person to “successfully” rap and sing.

You’re not even the tenth person to do it.

Not even close.
