Carmelo Anthony now plays for the New York Knicks!

After months and months of talk, speculation and wonder, Anthony, along with some of his other teammates including Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter and Renaldo Balkman, was officially traded to the Knicks in a huge “blockbuster” deal closed late last night (Mon. Feb 21).

The Denver Nuggets (Melo’s former team) will get Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov, Wilson Chandler, New York’s 2014 first-round draft pick, Golden State’s 2012 second-round draft pick, Golden State’s 2012 and 2013 second-round pick along with a cool $3 million dollars in cash money.

“I’m glad its over,” Nuggets coach George Karl said. “I’m glad it’s an opportunity to reinvent. I think everybody handled it as classy as you could handle it. There’s some sadness to it, there always will be.”

Denver chose Anthony with the third overall pick back in the 2003 NBA draft. During his first seven seasons with the Nuggets, the 26-year-old NBA star has averaged 24.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game over his first seven seasons. He has also led the Nuggets to two division titles and to the playoffs every season since his rookie year.

Looks like Amare Stoudemire has some company now! Do you think Chis Paul is going to join the pack next so that the Knicks can create a “Big 3” to rival LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami?
