A Wheeling teenager has been arrested after authorities said he injured a police officer with his car as the officer tried to question him. Vladislav Pobyegayev, 17, appeared in court today on a charge of aggravated battery to a police officer.
Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Bill Cotter said the teen was behind the wheel of car carrying several people that was parked on an Arlington Heights street late Saturday night. An officer approached the car to question the group after seeing a white powdery substance on the console, but the driver backed up rapidly.
The officer ended up on the hood of the car and began hitting the windshield with his police handgun but was thrown off the car when the driver placed it in forward and sped away, Cotter said. The officer, whose name was not released, suffered a strained leg muscle and was treated at Northwest Community Hospital.
Pobyegayev, of the 1000 block of Valley Stream Drive, was arrested a short time later. Cotter said the teen told police that he got scared and sped off because he had cocaine in the vehicle. His bond was set at $75,000 today.
So you got scared and not only sped off, but RAN OVER AN OFFICER because you had coke in the car. Smart move kids, smart move…. NOT!
