This has been quite the year for Bishop Eddie Long, and now…he is in BIG trouble once again!

The New Birth Missionary Baptist Church pastor, along with another local megachurch leader named Gary Hawkins, are being linked to a “questionable mortgage venture” that is currently under federal investigation.

The venture is said to have caused many church members to lose their homes.

Peep the details below:

Long is accused of using his church to assist in the corrupt mortgage scheme. Matrix Capitol Mortgage Company and its frontman Fred Lee, invited homeowners to mortgage payment seminars at New Birth and promised to lower their payments. But that didn’t happen. Many of the attendees (some were New Birth members) lost their homes to foreclosure and ended up bankrupt.

Every week, Lee would come to New Birth and collect at least $1,500 from each of the 1,000 homeowners after he convinced them that he could get them cheaper mortgage payments. CBS Atlanta reports that “people trusted Lee because he made the promises of lowering their mortgages in the sanctity of their own church.”

The case is now being investigated by the Secret Service and DeKalb County Police.
