Another Twitter hoax has claimed the life of yet another celebrity. Just last week, a trending topic led folks to believe that Keith Sweat had died, forcing the R&B singer to release a video proving that he was alive and well. And now, actor Morgan Freeman is going through something similar (minus the “hey! I’m alive” video).
The rumor apparently started from a fake retweet from CNN that read: “RT @CNN: Breaking News: actor Morgan Freeman has passed away in his Burbank home.” That particular tweet was passed around multiple times, and was re-tweeted by other media outlets, and before you know it, Morgan Freeman became a trending topic. However, CNN’s Twitter account never displayed such a tweet and the network itself cleared up the rumors this evening with a post to its official Twitter page.
