Actress Amy Adams is currently in talks to play rock legend Janis Joplin (who died of a drug overdose in 1970) on the big screen in a film about her life. “Twilight” producer Wyck Godfrey is behind the project and mentioned in a recent interview that Amy Adams, who has played good girl roles in films like “Julie & Julia,” “Leap Year,” the Disney movie “Enchanted” and more, would play Joplin, who was a known drug and alcohol abuser. As of this moment there is no big studio attached to the project and the script is still being tweaked and fine tuned.

There have been several attempts at making a film about Janis Joplin’s life, including a film directed by Penelope Spheeris that would have had Pink portraying Joplin, and the 1979 film “The Rose” in which Bette Midler played Joplin and earned an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance.

35-year-old Amy Adams gave birth to her first child (a healthy baby girl) back in May of this year and has said that she would be using her maternity leave to plan her upcoming wedding to her fiance of 2 years, actor Darren Le Gallo.
