It appears that Twilight actor Robert Pattinson‘s role as “Edward” in the saga series may come a tad bit more natural than we could have guessed.

Researchers at Ancestry.co.uk recently found evidence that revealed Pattinson is related to Vlad III Dracula a.k.a. Vlad the Impaler. Vlad the Impaler was known as the ruler of Romania and the prime inspiration for the Dracula character in Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel. The connection between him and Pattinson comes from a common relationship to the British Royal family. England’s Prince William and Prince Harry are Pattison’s distant cousins while Vlad the Impaler was their distant uncle. According to Anastasia Tyler, a genealogist at Ancestry.com:

“Tracing Pattinson’s family back to Vlad was difficult research, but the pieces that unraveled created the perfect accompaniment to the ‘Twilight Saga. Without any myth or magic, we find royalty and vampires lurking in Pattinson’s life — making his story just as supernatural as the one he’s playing on screen.”

Wow… Why does this not surprise us at all? We always thought he played that role too well!
