Rappers Jay-Z and Eminem are joining forces to give all of their fans a special treat! The two moguls will be performing a pair of concerts together in their respective hometowns: New York City and Detroit, Michigan.
Eminem will headline the first concert September 2nd at Comerica Park in Detroit, and Jay-Z will finish the job off with a concert at New York City’s Yankee Stadium September 13th. Jay and Em will be the first artists to perform at the brand new Yankee Stadium.
Eminem: “This is a once-in-a-lifetime set of shows, and I know we’re both really going to bring it to our hometowns. The fans are going to love this and so am I. It’s going to be historic. We’ve done things together – smaller shows and what not. But I’m not sure we’ve ever done anything this big.”
Jay-Z: “These shows are like a dream come true. I’ve always hoped that hip-hop could play any stadium like other genres of music. How perfect is it that EMINEM and I get to play our hometowns and show how far the live rap experience has come? Fun and historic, a great combination all around the board.”
Jay-Z is no stranger to the stage as he is currently touring the world for his latest album Blueprint 3, but as for Eminem, recent concerts have been few and far in between. He hasn’t had a full concert since summer 2005 and will be performing in Detroit for the first time in five years! This should definitely be a sight to see!
