British singer Alexandra Burke took the stage Tuesday night (Nov 17) at the Union Chapel in London, England to perform for Mencap’s Little Sound Sessions before fielding questions from the press.
The 21-year-old X Factor champ revealed that she won’t be waiting 3 years to tour like her predecessor Leona Lewis, who just here recently announced that she’ll be going on tour in the spring. Alex says she won’t be waiting that long, and she and her management are already working on something!
“I definitely won’t take as long as Leona. There’s something in the pipeline already for sure. My management were very happy with my performance tonight. They were like ‘you know what, you just proved something to us.’ Performing is what I’m about and doing it for such a special cause in my hometown is inspiring.”
Burke also said she enjoys working with people she feels comfortable with.
“My two backing vocalists are good friends of mine from back in the old days. I’ve known Shaun and Dave since I was 17. It’s important to work with people you can blend with and I feel more comfort-able with them on stage, so keeping my family close to me will be major.”
The latest X-Factor winner Alexandra Burke is still making promotional rounds around the UK for her debut album Overcome which hit UK stores October 19th. Below is a performance on the Paul O’Grady show where she gives a flawless performance of her song “The Silence“. You can clearly see why this girl won X-Factor. She nailed every note during the performance without much effort. Hopefully when she releases in the U.S. she will do well. Peep the video below.
“The X Factor” winner Alexandra Burke walked out of BBC Radio One studios over in London, England Sunday (Oct 18), and for good reason too! “Bad Boys,” the lead single for the Pop/R&B singer’s debut album Overcome is currently sitting in the No.1 position of the U.K.’s singles charts, beating out fellow UK singer Robbie Williams. Alexandra’s “Bad Boys,” which features rapper Flo Rida, sold 187,100 copies, whereas Robbie’s “Bodies” sold less than half of that (89,238 copies).
Funny thing is, this accomplishment is actually going to hurt Burke’s pockets a bit. She bet X Factor judge Simon Cowell £1000 (about $1600 USD) that she wouldn’t go to No. 1 because Robbie Williams (an established artist) was coming out with his new single the same exact week.
“Simon Cowell was adamant that she could beat Robbie, but Alex wasn’t having any of it. She thought how on earth could she beat someone who had so much success in the past. So when she discovered that she had, she was overwhelmed with excitement – and then she remembered her little bet with her boss.”
Alex reportedly got Simon to match her donation, making it 2000 (about $3200) and the money will be donated to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, which was a suggestion from Simon.
“Alex has been saying she wants a dog. But Simon, who has a soft spot for pooches, reckons it’s not fair because she’s away so much. Alex has come round to the idea and now she is at No.1 her cheque book is ready.”
UK crossover singer Alexandra Burke performed live on stage Saturday night (Oct 17) at London, England’s popular nightspot G-A-Y Heaven. Burke also performed at Girlguiding UK’s Big Gig at Wembley Arena the same night (Sat. Oct 17).
The X Factor 2008 winner is currently promoting the hell out of her debut single, “Bad Boys,” which took over the No. 1 spot on the UK singles charts, beating out fellow UK singer Robbie Williams‘ comeback song, “Bodies.”
Wearing a pair of Christian Louboutin heels, X Factor 2008 winner Alexandra Burke was spotted by the paparazzi outside MTV studios in London, England Thursday afternoon (Oct 15).
The R&B/pop singer’s debut album, Overcome, will be released the U.K on October 19th and will be released here in the U.S. at a later date.
UK pop/R&B singer Alexandra Burke took the stage on the X Factor (the UK’s version of American Idol) to perform her debut single “Bad Boys” feat. Flo Rida, who also joined her on stage. This is the first performance she has done of the song and she owned the stage! Peep the video below:
Singer Alexandra Burke, the latest winner from the UK’s American Idol esque show, “The X Factor” is opening up about her debut album, Overcome, due in stores October 19th (UK) and October 20th (US). The singer was expected to be put up against the hugely successful Leona Lewis and many expected a ballad as her first single, but she said when she heard “Bad Boys,” she had to put that one out first!
“I think people were expecting a ballad to be honest and I was fighting for a ballad at first until the mix of ‘Bad Boys’ came through and, I was like, ‘this is the first single’. When you hear the up-tempos, you’re going to hear my personality, who I am in the day – I’m a bubbly person, I’m just in-your-face, I probably annoy people at times but I actually don’t care, I talk a lot. I’m really getting to show the crazy chick that’s in there, which is great, because now I can be myself and you’ve got to be true to the game.”

Singer Kelly Rowland and French DJ David Guetta attended and performed at the 2009 MOBO Awards Wednesday (Sep 30) in Glasgow, Scotland. Other celebs on the red carpet of the show were Keri Hilson, Alexandra Burke, Jermaine Jackson and more.
In related news, Kelly is demanding an apology from the MOBO Awards after her and David’s performance of “When Love Takes Over” was briefly disrupted due to some technical difficulties with the sound.
Just seconds into a rendition of her current duet with David Guetta, “When Love Takes Over,” at the awards honoring Music of Black Origin, Rowland encountered some technical difficulties with her sound and did what any seasoned pro would do: She stopped singing and stood there looking confused. Granted, her gormless expression lasted just a few seconds—during which time her background dancers can be seen furiously motioning offstage—before resuming the tune, but the same can’t be said for her anger.
Alexandra Burke premiered her first single Bad Boys early Tuesday (Aug 26) on Great Britain’s Radio 1. The song features rapper Flo Rida and is the kind of song that the radio will instantly eat up! It’s an infectious dance track that we can see being blasted in clubs and cars all over, and it helps that Alex’s voice suits the vibe of the track and she sounds really good on it. It seems that they didn’t want her to be compared to her predecessor Leona Lewis so she’s gone a completely different route. Download the track below and let us know what you think about it. Do you think the track will be a hit or will it tank? Take the poll below and let us know in the comments!
Now that Leona Lewis has been certified a superstar, it is time for another “X-Factor” champ to shine! Alexandra Burke is the latest champ from Britian’s hit talent competition series, “The X-Factor,” and will be dropping a single very soon. Alexandra won her way into the hearts of Simon Cowell and hundreds of fans when she entered the competition and only gained more as time went on. During the finals of the show, she performed “Listen,” the hit song from Dreamgirls, with her favorite artist, Beyonce. Throughout the show, she made it known that Beyonce was one of her heroes and when the two singers met, Beyonce took a liking to her and offered her tips and coaching.
After winning the show, Alex headed to the U.S. to start on her debut album. She met and worked with the likes of Phantom Boyz, Akon, Pharrell, Red One, Stargate, and even Beyonce and hubby Jay-Z. The power couple met up with Alex many times to offer her help on her debut album. Beyonce even offered Alex a chance to open for her during her “I Am…” tour but due to scheduling conflicts, the match never happened.
Now, Alexandra is finally ready to show the world what she’s got. She recently signed a”six-figure deal” with Dolce & Gabbana and she also announced that her upcoming single will be titled “Bad Boys” and will feature rapper Flo Rida. Promotion for the singer has begun and two new very “Sasha Fierce” looking promo pictures for her new project have surfaced (see above).
Hopefully, Alexandra can see the same success as her predecessor Leona Lewis. But of course, only time will tell. We are wishing her the best of luck and will keep you updated once her single drops this Tuesday, August 25th.
