Tia Mowry and Pooch Hall Not Returning to “The Game”

With the season finale of “The Game” coming up in just a few weeks, it has been confirmed that Tia Mowry and her on-screen husband Pooch Hall will NOT be coming back to the show next season.

According to a well placed source, HipHollywood.com has learned exclusively that Tia Mowry and Pooch Hall will NOT return to BET’s highest rated show, The Game.

Our source also added that both are very busy right now, Hall is working on another project, while Mowery is still filming her Style network reality show.

Tia Mowry herself also confirmed the shocking news via her Twitter page:

“Just wanted to let all my fans know that I will not be returning to The Game for season 6. It was an incredible run and I had lots of fun along the way. I am looking forward to my upcoming projects…the release of my book #OhBaby [today!], season 2 of @TiaTameraShow on @mystyle premiering in June, and my @ABCFamily movie coming out in December…more to come!” love u so much

“The Game” — which is largely based on the lives of NFL star Derwin Davis (Pooch Hall) and Dr. Melanie Barnett Davis (Tia Mowry) — was recently renewed by BET for a sixth season, so fans of the show will definitely be shocked to learn that the central characters to the overall plot will be leaving.

Earlier this month, Pooch Hall told his Twitter followers that even though he is filming a new Showtime series, he would still be able to do “The Game,” and was hoping that BET would work something out … but it looks like they weren’t able to work anything out after-all.

    In otherwords, now that the 2 headliners of the franchise have miled the show for all it’s worth, they obviously can’t stay in the BET minor leagues forever. They wanna be where Kevin Hart and Tariji is. And it’s understandable. And no, they should just cancel it. No sense of finding anybody new who’s not funny like on Lets Stay Together. Wendy will have no problem finding work elsewhere, and I’m sure the other 2 will get something too

    I think that trying to create two new characters for a show that just returned last year will be a risk. Kelly left( a big lost). Now, Melanie and Derwin( a major lost). I think that the 6th season will be the last one. Unless BET pull off some big things.

    I think that BET should just pay Pooch and Tia what they deserve. With a top rated show on their hands, BET should not have a problem paying these people what they are worth. Everyone took a pay cut when they came to BET and now that the show is doing well, it should be no problem paying these well desrved actors what they are worth!!!!!………….c’mon BET!!!

    Ever since BET took the show over ratings have dropped. Its so sad I enjoyed the show while it was on cW but now it is boring and stupid. Hopefully they cancel the show, BEt should have taken fans thoughts into consideration and changed the format back into the original format because noone wants to watch this anymore. Plus there is much more competition with shows in general out there in general. Derwin, Melanie, Kelly? who else?

    I’ve been a faithful supporter of The Game since the CW days. Tia has been there since day one. Sure, you can replace her and write in a new G/F, or bring Janae back into the picture somehow, but this is gonna be awkward. ESPECIALLY with a Season 6 contract on deck. I may be a little ignorant in this statement, but this is almost like trying to replace Gina, from Martin. YO! DON’T SHOOT ME! :)

      No they got rid of both of them so it’s even worse. It’s like getting rid of Gina and Martin and saying now Tommy and Pam are the main characters.

    They pretty much knew what they where doing GROOMING the Character Jason and Brandy, because there prob going to be the main characters of this show, BET took a Well written show, with a whol elot of followers and Just completely ruin it@!.. Sad to see them go because I too like many followed it from CW, and now no longer watch CW because they got rid of this show, so sad when they made money and now too big for there own damn PANTS won’t pay them, we know that ‘s the issue can’t get something for nothing, how crazy is it to get rid of CHARACTERS who the show was BASED ON!!!  WAY TO GO BET MESS up a GOOD SHOW, and youhad followers.. I’m done!  No season 6 for me!! unless you rethink and bring those 2 Talents BACK!.. already had CRAPPY storylines and the writing was Terrible we went through that and stayed but now.. It’s OVER!!!!

    Nope, nope, nope… The Game will not survive this.  Now, I always thought Derwin and Melanie were overrated, but I know the majority of the fans watched because of them.  It’s going to be very awkward without them, so I think it’s time for either a cancellation or a short season with a spin-off, because The Game as we know it is over.

    I loved The Game when it was on CW. I haven’t liked it since it’s been on BET…but then again I don’t like ANY of the shows on BET. They’re horrible. But let me stay focused on The Game. I think losing Pooch and Tia will be a major loss. I’ve never liked Melanie (even though I LOVE Tia Mowry), but the show needs her self-indulgent narcissism in order to remain watchable. I like all of the other characters and maybe the show can survive, however, the dynamics will certainly be different because the main characters will no longer be there.

    I’m still upset at the fact that the show was moved from primetime TV to BET cable station. I have not watched since it was moved. But I do think the show will survive without them if the story lines are written well.

    This past season Melanie turned into someone I didn’t enjoy watching and I’m not sorry to see her leave.   Derwin is another story.  I was always hoping he’d get back with Jenay.   Personally I think Tasha, Malik and my man Titi can carry this show.

    Tia and Pooch are the main characters of the show. I think with Wendy still in “The Game” the show will survive Season 6. She is just too funny. As far as Season 7, I think it would only be interesting if Tia and Pooch return to the show. However, we shall see what BET has up their sleeves for Season 6. I just think there is going to be a HUGE void. What happens when the new Football Season returns? No Pooch Hall? No Tasha and Melanie? Finally, a new set for Season 6 would be great. It just seems so dark.

    Pooch Hall has not officially confirmed not coming back folks only Tia Mowry has confirmed not coming back.
