A 13 year-old white boy from Kansas City, Missouri is recovering from first degree burns after being doused with gasoline and lit on fire.

According to published reports, the young man was walking home from school when two black teenagers attacked him on his way home.

“We were told it’s a hate crime,” the boy’s mother Melissa Coon told KTLA. “They rushed him on the porch as he tried to get the door open. (One of them) poured the gasoline, then flicked the Bic, and said, ‘This is what you deserve. You get what you deserve, white boy.'”

The second attacker “produced a large fireball burning the face and hair” of the 13 year-old boy, according to a report from the Kansas City Police Department.

Luckily, the boy was able to put out the fire with his shirt and called 911 himself.

“It was pretty bad stuff,” Detective Stacey Taylor told a local TV station, adding that police are worried that the boy may have suffered damage to his eyes and lungs.

Ms. Coon believes the boys who attacked her son attend his school, and since the incident has not allowed him to return.

“My 5-year-old came in and asked me, ‘Mom, am I going to get set on fire today?'” Coon said. “I was in tears.”

It’s ironic how the victim’s mother’s last name is Coon. Either way it’s unbelievable two teens would do something on this level to harm another individual. Just goes to show how sick our world is getting day by day.
