Just to clear up some things about those automatically assuming and saying that whoever has herpes is disgusting and dirty.
My best friend (who is female – I am male) has herpes.
There are two different types of the herpes virus: Type 1 (oral) and Type 2 (genital).
Knowing my friend and what I have learned about the virus, first, it does NOT mean that you have slept around or not been careful. Most herpes infections are caught from steady partners within longer-term relationships. My friend caught it from her HUSBAND whom she had been married to for 9 years! (He cheated on her, caught it, and did not tell her that he had contracted the virus).
Second, herpes is EXTREMELY common – one in four women has it as the virus is easier spread from men to women than women to men.
And for the record, well over half of women developing herpes now catch it through oral sex, not intercourse. Cold sores are herpes – and since 8 out of 10 people have those, that means that some in this thread have herpes, whether you know it or not.
Educate yourself.
It is sad that people see STD and herpes and automatically judge others. We have no clue if all of this herpes talk is even true. But even if it is, ONE IN FOUR WOMEN has it! That means that one of you may have herpes and not even know about it!
And condoms do not fully protect against the virus (as someone mentioned above). The virus can be transmitted to parts exposed (that the condom does not cover).
For those who have ever had sex, you know that more skin touches than penis and vagina.
So please, do not make fun of others about this. Whether true or not, it really seems as if some of you should educate yourself about the virus.
Most people DO NOT know that herpes is incurable and is a lifelong virus that can only be controlled through medication – there is no cure.
I myself did not even know this until my friend revealed her story to me.
So please, do some research before calling people out.
More people have it than you know and as said, it does not make them slutty, dirty, or loose – it comes from lack of knowledge on how the virus is spread.
EDUCATE YOURSELF BEFORE JUDGMENT.

Go visit your doctor or any reputable site online and EDUCATE YOURSELF about it – if that is what you truly believe.
Yes, it is manageable (my friend rarely has outbreaks), but while she lives with it, I doubt she would believe that it is not a big deal.
*Supposedly it is very painful (during outbreaks).
*You have the burden of telling ANYONE you are ever involved with that you have it. Think about that. You meet someone that you really like, love, etc. And you have to tell them you have it. 50/50 chance most people will run.
*It is incurable – i.e. it is a virus that you have for life and can pass along to anyone FOR LIFE.
If those three things do not seem like a big deal to you… I do not know what to say.
