My best friend (who is female – I am male) has herpes.

There are two different types of the herpes virus: Type 1 (oral) and Type 2 (genital).

Knowing my friend and what I have learned about the virus, first, it does NOT mean that you have slept around or not been careful. Most herpes infections are caught from steady partners within longer-term relationships. My friend caught it from her HUSBAND whom she had been married to for 9 years!
