While the VMAs usually play host to tributes to legendary pop stars, it’s usually other artists paying homage to their idols. Lady Gaga said eff that, and went ahead and patted herself on the back.
In the first comeback performance since her tour-ending hip injury, Lady Gaga didn’t waste a moment in celebrating her journey.
As Gaga is known to do, she changed outfits several times and snatched her own wig. She started out with imagery from her debut album The Fame. The blonde wig and the shoulder pads took us back in time. Then she broke out the yellow wig and smeared blood for the The Fame Monster era. Interestingly, she skipped the Born This Way era and ended her “Applause” performance with her Beyonce wig.
Oh and she bared her juicy booty too.
The performance overall was pretty low-key for a Gaga joint, but it was theatrical as hell and reminded me of a Liza Minelli performance.
