Overall, the 2012 Oscars were pretty boring, but thanks to Angelina Jolie and her right leg, we all had something to talk about as the uneventful show went on.
Dressed in an all-black velvet Versace Atelier gown with a thigh-length slit on the side, Angelina Jolie proudly showed off her right leg, striking a memorable pose, with her hand on the opposite side of her hip.
“You could hear people giggling when she did it on the carpet,” a senior producer for the Academy Awards told Rob Shuter from HuffPo Celebrity. “It was clearly Brad’s night, he was the one nominated for an award, yet at the same time, she made the whole night about herself by posing in that crazy fashion. One thing is for sure, you know that pose is going to pop up on every late night show and ‘SNL.'”
Angelina maintained her leggy pose on stage as well, making sure that she flaunted her right leg just enough while presenting an award during the show.
Her stance was so obvious that Oscar award recipient Jim Rash, a screenwriter and part of the writing time from “The Descendants,” mocked the actress while receiving the award that she presented to him.
Rash — who also plays Dean Pelton on NBC’s “Community” told EW that he couldn’t resist after watching Jolie’s consistent poses.
“Honestly, as soon as I saw her pose like that, I was like, ‘I’m going to do that’…I knew [‘The Descendants’ director] Alexander [Payne] was going to take the reins, so I was like, ‘How can I make a moment?’ — selfishly,” laughed Rash.
“I almost thought it was a little Dean Pelton, somehow. I was bringing it all together. Because I have stood like that [on Community].”
Angelina’s famous leg pose has also spawned its own Twitter account that currently has over 20,000 followers.
