Singer Gavin DeGraw was assaulted in the early hours of Monday morning in New York City.

The 34-year-old, who has toured with Maroon 5 and Train in the past, was reportedly attacked in the East Village area of the city at around 4:30 am and was later taken to Bellevue Hospital.

According to sources, the “Chariot” singer was transported to the hospital after someone called 911 to report that a male needed assistance at the corner of 1st Ave. and 19th St. in Manhattan.

Police say the caller told dispatchers that there was a man who appeared to be heavily intoxicated with blood on his shirt

DeGraw’s reps released the following statement:

“Gavin DeGraw was assaulted … and was taken to the emergency room at Bellevue Hospital by ambulance. He is currently under observation. We have no additional information at this time.”

Let’s hope he makes a swift recovery!
