Snoop Dogg is a frequent visitor to the Netherlands and holds concerts there annually. However, this year the rapper will not be able to perform at the Parkpop Festival, a free concert in The Hague, due to the city’s mayor rounding up a coalition to have him banned.
“Snoop Dogg will not perform at Parkpop… (The concert was cancelled) in order to preserve the free, open and friendly nature of Parkpop,” the statement from city officials read.
The concert was scheduled to go down next weekend (Sun. Jun 27), and Snoop mainly loves visiting the Netherlands because marijuana is (somewhat) legal over there and is openly sold in stores called “coffee shops.” But since the city officials feel as though he’s not suitable for the concert, he’ll have to pass on this year’s festivities.
Meanwhile, Snoop was granted permission to perform in the U.K. earlier this year after being denied entry into the country in 2007 following an incident dating back to 2006 at London’s Heathrow Airport. He’s scheduled to perform at the legendary “Glastonbury” festival this summer.
