T.I.

After a couple of push-backs and a bit of confusion here and there on just when T.I. would begin his sentence, the Atlanta raper turned himself in Tuesday (May 26) at an Arkansas federal prison, where he began serving his notorious 366-day sentence stemming from those weapons charges he received in Atlanta back in 2007.

According to several reports, Mr. Clifford Joseph Harris is now in custody at a low-security section of the Forrest City Federal Correctional Center, where he will reportedly be in the general population with the rest of the inmates, despite his celebrity status.

According to USA Today, Tip arrived at the prison about 29 minutes late after pulling up in a black conversion van with tinted windows. He was due to report at 12 noon Central Time, but the deadline passed as guards outside the facility took the time to rope off reporters, fans and casual onlookers from coming near the facility on a rural state highway. It wasn’t immediately known whether or not the plea deal between T.I., now known as inmate No. 59458019, and his prosecutors would have a negative effect on his case.

Fans gathered down the road from the prison Tuesday screamed, “We love you, T.I!” when the black van pulled at the prison. Afterward, they shouted at television cameras that “T.I. is the greatest!”

“We’re still riding with the king!” yelled Porshe Tiswell, 22, of Forrest City.

T.I. should be out of prison in about 10 months where he will then begin serving 2 more months on house arrest.
