Jordin Sparks hosts a party for her “Sparkle” co-stars, while also celebrating the life of the late Whitney Houston in the upbeat music video for the single “Celebrate” (produced by R. Kelly) from the movie’s soundtrack.

“Celebrate” serves as the final song recorded by Whitney Houston, who passed away in February of this year, just months before the video for the single was shot in May.

“We planned on it being Whitney and me, but she’s not here, so we wanted to make it a tribute to her,” Sparks told BET.

She continued in another interview with Entertainment Tonight, “What we wanted to do was make sure that this was a fun, happy video and just kind of dedicating it to her … What better song to leave for people to hear than a song that is so upbeat and just so happy and so encouraging?”

Jordin, along with Tika Sumpter and Carmen Ejogo, plays Whitney’s daughter in the remake of the 1976 Motown-era film, which opens in theaters on August 17th.
