We didn’t even know he was still signed….

Chamillionaire (the guy who recorded “Riding Dirty”) has officially left Universal Records. The Houston rapper made the announcement during a recent interview with Billboard.

“I think nowadays labels feels that rap doesn’t sell as much as pop does. So what they are doing is they are trying to turn rappers into that. ‘You infiltrated pop culture with ‘Ridin Dirty’ now do it again. That’s what they wanted me to be, and if I came in with something that was more me, they wouldn’t support. But ‘Ridin Dirty’ wasn’t a pop record – it was myself.”

Surprisingly, he just wrapped up his third solo album Venom, but the label declined to release it. Chamillionaire now plans on taking matters in his own hands…and is working on a music series titled Playlist Poisson.

We wish you the best of luck Cham!
