Fanny-tasia was announced as one of the performers for the 61st annual Tony Awards, which will be held on June 10 at Radio City Music Hall. It’s set to air on CBS at 8pm et/pt. Check your local listings for more details. The ceremony will feature musical numbers from each of the nominees for Best Musical (Curtains, Grey Gardens, Mary Poppins and Spring Awakening) as well as performances by the casts of the currently running Best Musical Revival nominees (A Chorus Line, Company and 110 in the Shade); no number will be performed from The Apple Tree, which closed in March. I can’t wait to see Tasia’s performance, seeing as making a trip to New York all the way from South Carolina isn’t included in my budget.
 In other “The Color Purple†news, the hit musical at the Broadway Theatre welcomed its one-millionth audience member during a performance from last week. A special announcement was made after the curtain call of the May 30 show to honor the person who purchased the one-millionth ticket. That patron received “The Color Purple One Millionth Patron Grand Prize.”
