Serena Williams crushed the top seeded Maria Sharapova 6-1, 6-2, in the Australian Open Finals to become just the second unseeded woman to ever win the Grand Slam event. Chris O’Neill accomplished the feat first in 1978. It didn’t take the 25-year-old American long to capture her eighth Grand Slam Title. Williams took control early winning the first set in just 26-minutes. The second set wasn’t much different as Serena jumped on Sharapova with a strong serve and held a 4-0 lead before disposing of the 19-year-old Russian 6-2. In the end it was Serena’s strength that overcame Sharapova. Williams finished with seven aces in the match, she had 64 throughout the tournament. CONGRATULATIONS SERENA – FROM THINK2WICE.ORG!!
