Serena Williams crushed the top seeded Maria Sharapova 6-1, 6-2, in the Australian Open Finals to become just the second unseeded woman to ever win the Grand Slam event. Chris Oâ€™Neill accomplished the feat first in 1978. It didnâ€™t take the 25-year-old American long to capture her eighth Grand Slam Title. Williams took control early winning the first set in just 26-minutes. The second set wasnâ€™t much different as Serena jumped on Sharapova with a strong serve and held a 4-0 lead before disposing of the 19-year-oldÂ Russian 6-2.
