FRIDAY, JULY 20TH 2007 » The original Dreamgirls musical recently celebrated their 25th anniversary, and to celebrate the occasion a live performance was held at the famous Fox Theater in Atlanta. Jennifer Holliday, the original Effie White, performed in the show in addition to Cindy Herron-Braggs (Deena) and Kiara Bennett (Lorelle). The show was performed throughout the entire weekend, and the cast made their final bow last night. I’m glad they did this so Jennifer Holliday can finally go sit her bitter ass down somewhere LMAO. Y’all know she had to be the “last one” to play Effie!
SATURDAY, JULY 21ST 2007 » Jermaine Dupri recently hosted his annual So So Def Summerfest in Atlanta, and among the many events was a Celebrity Basketball Game, which was held at the Georgia State College Arena where his team (So So Def Allstars) battled Nelly’s team (Derrty Ent Allstars). Looks like they had fun! Oh yeah, please … somebody tell Da Brat that she is a GIRL!
In other JD news, his girlfriend, Janet Jackson, has reportedly left Virgin Records and has moved to Island Def Jam, where Jermaine Dupri currently holds the president position. He says he won’t be working on her album because right now he’s “focusing on Mariah Carey’s new project.” Janet’s album is supposedly releasing by the end of the year, but I honestly don’t see that happening. In my humble opinion, home girl should just sit down for a minute or two. Her last 3 attempts at music have failed and I don’t see this new one doing any good either…
SUNDAY, JULY 22ND 2007 » Will Smith was spotted on the set of his new movie “Hancock” in which he portrays a superhero by the name of “John Hancock” who begins romancing the wife (Charlize Theron) of the PR agent (Jason Bateman) he’s hired to help repair his image. The film is looking at a July 2008 release. I swear, this man is on the grind. Don’t forget about his other movie “I Am Legend” that releases this December!
