Following months of rumors and speculation, The Steve Morning Harvey Show has officially welcomed their newest on-air personality: J. Anthony Brown!
The comedian and veteran radio personality began his new role as a daily contributor to Steve Harvey’s nationally syndicated radio show Monday morning (Apr. 24).
Brown said in a statement, “I’m cooking up a brand new funny to bring to The Steve Harvey Morning Show while I kick it with the crew, and of course, a couple of your favorites from me. Watch out deh now!”
Harvey added, “I’ve known J since my very first comedy gig outside of Cleveland, and it’s my joy to be reunited with the man who taught me real comedy … Get ready folks – we’re ‘bout to turn the funny meter up 10 notches. Having ‘J’ join Shirley, Nephew Tommy, Carla, Junior and myself is going to create bend over, stop the car, spit on your computer, spray your drink, gut-busting laugher. We’ve also got lots of new stuff planned, so hang on, this is the best ride in all of radio.”
After 20 years, J. Anthony Brown abruptly left the Tom Joyner Morning Show without warning last fall, leaving many longtime listeners scratching their heads wondering where he went.
Though he didn’t have a proper send-off and was unable to say his goodbyes on-air, he eventually was able to thank his fans, Tom Joyner and the TJMS crew through his own platform days later, chalking his exit up to the nature of the radio business.
He told the AJC that his departure from TJMS had nothing to do with a salary dispute, as previously rumored. “It was based on me wanting to venture out and have my own weekend show. That’s it,” he explained. “We couldn’t come to terms. It was just time for me to leave… Sometimes people just disagree and part ways. That’s just what happened.”
Brown added, “It was absolutely the best job I’ve ever had. The most fun I ever had.”
In the first hour, Brown did not mention Joyner’s name but most of the listeners clearly knew where he is coming from. He jokingly said he drove by his old employer and honked his horn for 30 minutes. Plus, he is thrilled to be able to be heard in his current long-time residence of Los Angeles, a market Joyner is not on. Then he said he’ll be able to be heard “in full” in Miami and Atlanta, markets where Joyner’s show is cut off early. “Can you hear me in D.C.? What?” he added, referencing a market where Joyner is now on an AM station.
He said he claimed he hesitated at first when Harvey first offered him the gig. “When he offered me how much money? I see you all in the morning, man!” That sounded more like a joke. I suspect he was thrilled to take the offer without hesitation.
At 7:38 a.m., he did his first “Murders the Hits” using Bruno Mars’ “24K Magic.” “I’m with Steve, I made the move. Everyone is glad J’s back on the air. I see you later, gator!” he sings. He promised a weekly joke song. Harvey laughed over the line, “I’m a popular man with a Viagra in my pocket.”
“He wrote his own song to welcome himself here,” Harvey said, with a chuckle.
The Steve Harvey Morning Show, which is listened to by nearly 7 million people, airs weekday mornings between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. on nearly 100 different radio stations.
Let’s face it: Most people tune into reality show reunion specials to get a good dose of hot, pipin’ drama and mess. But part two of the four-part RHOA season 9 reunion special closed on a somber and powerful note that saw the RHOA ladies united and not divided.
When Shereé Whitfield returned to the cast of the Real Housewives of Atlanta for season 9, most people expected her to talk slick, carry mess between castmates and act bougie. Shereé delivered all of that and more, but loyal RHOA viewers and her fellow castmates were stunned when her ex-husband Bob Whitfield “joked” about not choking Shereé hard enough, since she could still breathe.
He also didn’t deny putting his hands on her ever, which sent Shereé spiraling downward as she walked down a memory lane that she had no interest in revisiting.
Reunion host Andy Cohen reopened this festering wound by asking Shereé about what that iconic moment on reality television felt like for her.
“I would’ve never talked about this had it not come out. I’ve never talked about this before,” said Shereé. “I wanted to protect my kids and I just never wanted to talk about it.”
When Andy point-blank asked if Bob hit her, Shereé somewhat softened things by sweeping the physical abuse under the umbrella term of “physical altercations.”
“With Bob, it was a lot of verbal, emotional abuse. And we have had some physical altercations,” she said.
For a moment, every single one of the ladies had nothing but words of kindness, sympathy and support for Shereé.
Phaedra, who has a friendly relationship with Bob, didn’t offer any defenses for him.
“When he did that, I almost wanted to beat him with my purse,” said Phaedra. “I was just really disappointed and very disturbed.”
Cynthia chimed in that Shereé didn’t need to feel the need to operate as an impenetrable super woman.
“Shereé, it’s OK not to be super woman. You are human. It’s okay. You can not have all the answers. Don’t ever feel like you have to carry everything on you,” said Cynthia. “I’m sure many other women have been inspired by you talking about it.”
Standing firm in her sisterhood, Kandi didn’t hold back.
“It hurt me to see you like that,” she said to Shereé.
Even Kenya, who spent much of the season squabbling and bickering with Shereé over petty things such as whose house was built fastest or whose house was in more of a state of disarray than the other’s during their respective housewarming parties, showed love to Shereé. Kenya dug deep and offered powerful words of empowerment and reconciliation to Shereé in her moment of need as she sobbed and wiped her tears, listening to the ladies give their POV about what Bob said in that car in Hawaii.
“The next step might be to talk to your daughters about it so it doesn’t happen to them,” said Kenya. “You wanted your family together. You had to be tough and no one will judge you for that, Shereé. No one will judge you for that.”
Kenya even got up from the couch to put her arms around Shereé and tell her she was proud of her.
While the mess, drama and cat fights are a huge part of why RHOA is so popular, these moments of connection, empathy and bonding are equally important to the formula so it was nice to see Bravo focus on and treat this moment with sensitivity it called for.
The beef will be back on the grill next week during part three of RHOA’s season 9 reunion special before we know it!
A tragic story about a teenage couple from Ohio committing suicide just days apart has gone viral on Facebook.
Details surrounding the suicides are scarce, but according to online reports, 18-year-old Mercedes Shaday Smith took her own life in her college dorm room in Columbia, Kentucky on Thursday (Apr. 20), and her boyfriend, Markeice “Mari” Brown ended his life on Saturday (Apr. 22).
Apparently, Smith’s friends believed that Brown contributed to his girlfriend’s suicide and they harassed/bullied him online, which, along with the grief of losing his girlfriend, drove him to commit suicide just days later.
The entire situation is being heavily discussed on Facebook and has sparked a serious discussion about suicide awareness and depression.
Here are some things you need to know about Mercedes Shaday Smith and Markeice “Mari” Brown:
Mercedes Shaday Smith committed suicide in her dorm room at Lindsey Wilson College.
18-year-old Mercedes Shaday Smith — a communications major and freshman at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Kentucky — was found unresponsive in her dorm room early Thursday morning (Apr. 20), according to ColumbiaMagazine.com.
Though unconfirmed, it is believed she committed suicide, according to multiple posts from her friends.
“We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mercedes,” said Lindsey Wilson President William T. Luckey Jr. “Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and teammates and the entire LWC community during this incredibly difficult time.”
The Ohio native, who was also a member of the LWC track and field team, was said by her coach Jamaine Gordon to be a “good-spirited person who showed promise in her future.” Gordon — who also said Smith had a vibrant personality that lit up the room — added, “She was a fun and loving person and everyone enjoyed being around her. She will be truly missed.”
Mercedes’ boyfriend Markeice “Mari” Brown posted a note and posted a tearful goodbye video on Facebook Live before killing himself.
Markeice Brown, who was known on Facebook as “Mari Safari,” was said to be the target of bullying and harassment from Mercedes’ friends, who believed he was the reason she committed suicide.
This is what Markeice posted on Facebook after finding out his girlfriend had taken her life:
As a result of the online persecution, Brown — who was also distraught over losing the love of his life — decided to end his own life early Saturday (Apr. 22) just two days after Mercedes ended hers.
Before taking his life, Markeice posted a distressing note on Facebook and went on Facebook Live to tell his friends and family goodbye.
“This is to everybody that knew me that shared love for me,” Brown wrote. “This is to the ones who deeply cared for me yea some might say I took the easy way out but who’s to say I wanted to live this life in the first place.”
Read the full post below:
“I don’t know what to say, but I love all y’all, real talk,” Markeice, clearly overcome with emotion, says through tears in the 8-minute video. “I’m tired of being the blame for her death. I just can’t do it no more.”
He captioned the Facebook Live video, in which at least a dozen people were tagged, “My [final] words to y’all.” Many of his friends and loved ones tried to talk him out of it and find him to stop him, but he told him that they shouldn’t bother because they wouldn’t be able to find him.
Watch the gut-wrenching video here:
According to Markeice’s goodbye/suicide note, Mercedes was pregnant at the time of her death, and they always planned to “go out together.”
Among words expressing his grief and sadness over the death of his girlfriend, Markeice also shared in his suicide note that Mercedes was pregnant with his baby.
I just lost my girlfriend and my kid she thought everyone was going to bash her like her Friends did that baby brought us so much joy she told me she was pregnant on my birthday I was happy but I also was lost for words mercedes asked countless ppl for help that’s why i tried to be the best boyfriend ever…
Markeice also shared in his note that he had previously talked Mercedes out of ending her life, but if she chose to do so in the future, they discussed “going out together.”
I messed up once and took someone on a date but that’s all i did I apologized about and I did whatever I had to do to make it up mercedes had my passwords fingerprint on my phone Allat I was very open with her , but we always told Eachother how we hated life and everything in it but I always talked her out of it well we would always say we was going out together so that’s where I’m headed…
At the end of his post, he wrote that her family wouldn’t allow him to go to her funeral, so he made the decision to “go see her” himself.
they won’t let me come to the funeral so Ima go see her myself
GoFundMe pages have been created for both Mercedes and Markeice.
To help the respective families cover the costs of burying Mercedes and Markeice, GoFundMe pages have been created for both of them.
Meanwhile, Markeice has multiple pages dedicated in his name, though none have met their goals yet.
The tragic love story of “Mari & Mercedes” has gone viral on Facebook.
Because the situation is so heartbreaking, Mari & Mercedes’ tragic love story has gone viral on Facebook and is raising awareness about suicide and depression.
One post about the story from Facebook user Drew Myles reads:
The Lord shows that Cedes had a spot in Keice life that nobody could fill plain and simple. But when irrelevant people bashing him all day and night for her suicide I can imagine how he was trying to keep it together no this ain’t no Romeo & Juliet this real life !! but you can only take so much bs, the brain can only hold so much stress and sadness until you crack real talk

DeRay McKesson is taking his activism from the streets to the pod. The prominent Black Lives Matter activist will soon launch a new podcast titled, Pod Save the People.
The podcast will focus on social advocacy and issues such as race issues, policing, and politics. McKesson aims to use the platform to continue to spread his message of the importance of organizing and activism, particularly in “Trump’s America.”
He hopes to help listeners better understand advocacy and learn what they can do to contribute to the cause.
“I’m trying to figure out how we give people language that they can repeat. I think a lot of the media, not just podcasts, are doing a lot of the ‘Let me explain the world to you’ [format] but not in a way listeners can actually keep explaining the world to people. I want to be intentional about how I use platforms to amplify this work. I think a podcast will be a great opportunity to do that.”
In addition to the police reform campaign he co-founded, Campaign Zero, McKesson has expressed interest in hosting a podcast for some time. He pitched his idea to another podcast network, but signed with newly formed liberal political media company, Crooked Media, after meeting its co-founder Jon Favreau last year.
Favreau, a longtime Barack Obama speechwriter founded the company with fellow former Obama administration aides Jon Lovett and Tommy Vietor. The trio hosts Crooked Media’s flagship program, Pod Save America, which McKesson appeared on as a guest in February.
The bi-weekly broadcast discusses the Trump administration, provides political commentary and insight, and includes interviews with prominent political figures. (Obama actually gave them his final interview as POTUS).
Favreau and company aims to have an impact on the 2018 mid-term elections, but also want to expand their brand to include activism, organizing, and protesting. Favreau felt McKesson was the best choice to host this standalone podcast.
“Because we’re growing so slowly every person that we bring on we almost want them to have multiple talents. And I think with DeRay, he’s someone who’s obviously knows how to organize and been involved with the movement, but he’s also brilliant and down to earth when you talk to him which also fits in with our brand and what we’re trying to do.”
Crooked Media currently publishes three other podcasts, including Pod Save the World and With Friends Like These. All shows consistently rank high on podcast charts, with the flagship program often landing within the top 15.
A launch date for Pod Save the People has yet to be announced, but you will be able to pre-subscribe to the show next week.
Did we kinda all see this coming? Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon were spotted at dinner dates two nights in a row, sparking speculation the ex-spouses are rekindling their romantic relationship.
The former couple had dinner with their 5-year-old twins on Thursday night (Apr. 20) at Mr Chow restaurant in Beverly Hills. TMZ caught up with the family as they were leaving the restaurant in the same car and Nick made an interesting comment. “We’ve always been official,” he told the photog.
The following night (Apr. 21), Nick and Mariah had dinner at Hollywood hotspot Nobu Malibu, only this time there were no children in sight.
Us Weekly reports Mariah “showed off her cleavage in a plunging, sleeveless black top.” This is typical attire for the diva, but maybe she’s also showing off her assets for the intimate date with her ex-husband. Meanwhile, Nick wore a black leather jacket and one of his signature turbans.
Recent Instagram photos also suggest the two are spending a lot of time with each other.
After eight years of marriage, Mariah and Nick were officially divorced in 2016. Mariah broke off her engagement to Australian billionaire James Packer in October and Nick welcomed a baby boy with ex Brittany Bell in February. The two only dated for a short period of time.
Mariah also just ended a brief fling with backup dancer Bryan Tanaka. According sources, Tanaka was jealous of Mariah’s close relationship with Nick.
Back in 2008, when the couple wed after merely over a month of dating, I gave this relationship about three months (if that). However, 8 years later and despite their divorce, I actually feel the two will find their way back to each other. They have remained amicable for the sake of their children, but I also don’t think we can overlook the strange, yet undeniable chemistry they have.
Janet Jackson fans are happy that she’s a mother and all, but they really want their money back from that postponed 2016 tour and they are willing to sue to get it.
A woman named Tiana Adams has filed a lawsuit against Live Nation to get a refund on a ticket she purchased for Janet’s Unbreakable World Tour. She claims Live Nation is trying to get over by not issuing refunds because the tour was “rescheduled” and not actually cancelled.
Janet first postponed the tour in February 2016 and then again in April, announcing that she and her then-husband Wissam Al Mana were planning a family. It was later confirmed the singer was pregnant with her first child.
The Unbreakable tour has been postponed three times, with no definitive return date, only stating that it will be “sometime in 2017.” However, with newborn baby Eissa and a potentially messy divorce, it might be a while before Janet hits the stage again.
Live Nation has not commented on the lawsuit.
It’s been over year since the tour was “rescheduled.” Regardless of semantics, Adams and every other ticket holder should be given a refund if requested. Fans shouldn’t have to sue to get their money when it’s clear a show is not going to take place anytime soon.
This petty social media feud got really nasty really quick. K. Michelle went all the way in on Loni Love, calling her a “struggle ass face ham hock,” after she was the subject of conversation on a recent episode of The Real.
The Breakfast Club host Angela Yee guest co-hosted the daytime talk show for several shows this week. During Wednesday’s broadcast (Apr. 19), the hosts asked Yee who was the “most surprising guest” she’s interviewed on The Breakfast Club.
“You want me to do it for you?” Love asked before Yee could even answer the question. The comedian then recalled an on-air confrontation Yee had with K. Michelle last March.
“Yeah, that was a Love & Hip Hop moment unfortunately,” Yee said. “It was a Love & Hip Hop cameras rolling type of moment.”
“It was surprising for everybody, like, the label’s like, ‘What’s going on?’ The guys were like, ‘What’s happening?’… My whole thing is this – and this is how I am in real life – if you start talking to me crazy, I’m not engaging in that. I’m just not saying anything. Just don’t come up to the show again. If you have a problem, don’t come.”
Yee’s comments basically reiterated the following tweet she posted after last year’s interview:
no one will ever bait me into an argument when those love and hip hop cameras are rolling
Though the conversation was brief, it was enough to set K. Michelle off. In a series of now-deleted tweets, she railed against Love, Yee, and The Real for mentioning her name.
She mocked Love’s look and weight, asked if Yee had enough dicks in her mouth to keep her silent, and told The Real they won’t play her like they did fired host, Tamar Braxton.
Love responded to K. Michelle’s low blows with humor and suggested the singer should come on The Real since she has so much to say.
“I think that I’ve been very cool and very supportive of you. The interview was over. The credits were running. You brought that back up… It didn’t get brought back up. I’d seen it. You brought it back up and then you was then all instigating when he said he’ll sleep with me, you was all like, ‘Eww, you’re nasty.’”
Love and Yee’s commentary was nowhere near shady or negative enough to warrant K. Michelle’s Twitter rant. She just wanted to be messy like she always is.
If she wanted to go off on someone, it should have been Real co-host Jeannie Mai, who said “Let crazy look crazy” after hearing Yee’s side of the encounter, although, she was most likely making a general statement not directly aimed towards K. Michelle.
Nonetheless, don’t count on K. Michelle visiting the ladies of The Real anytime soon.
She recently played the “queen” of Katwe, but Lupita Nyong’o could possibly become the princess of an African county — sort of. The Oscar winner’s father is currently running for governor of a county in Kenya and she recently offered her support in a recorded open letter.
Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o is running for governor of Kisumu County. He is currently a senator for the Kenyan county. Though the election will be held Monday (Apr. 24), he’s getting a last-minute endorsement from his Hollywood A-list daughter in a video she shared on Facebook and Instagram.
“Daddy, I love you and I respect you. You have supported me all my life and I’m where I am because of you and mummy. Through your own example, you taught us how to be hardworking, honest, and committed to humanity. You gave us the freedom to find ourselves, to pursue our interest, to grow, and to excel. I support your bid to be governor of Kisumu County.”
Though she was raised in Nairobi, Lupita says her father always reminded his children that Kisumu was their first home. She reflects on fond memories she has of Kisumu and praises the change and impact her father has had on the county.
“All my life, I have witnessed your unwavering passion for cultivating a better future Kenya, even when it was a thankless task, even when it was threat to your life. But you have never given up and you continue to push for change and development… I know for certain that Kisumu County will be a better place and leap into the future with you steering it.”
Lupita’s heartfelt video was clearly a beautiful love letter to her father, but it seems Kenyan citizens are just as vocal on politics as we are in the United States. Lupita’s social media accounts have been flooded with comments from Kisumu County constituents since she posted the video on Thursday (Apr. 20).
Many criticized Anyang’ Nyong’o’s performance as senator and suggested Lupita stay out of Kenyan politics.
“Girl, we like you, but we don’t like yo daddy!” seems to be the overall consensus. The Kisumu County election will be held this upcoming Monday, but it looks like Lupita will have to settle for the “Queen of Katwe” title for now.
The ex-girlfriend of the “Facebook Killer” — who killed in her name — met the victim’s family. Joy Lane met with two of Robert Godwin Sr.’s children and they let her know they do not blame Lane for their father’s death.
Lane, Tonya R. Godwin-Baines and Debbie D. Godwin met on Tuesday (Apr. 18) and the three embraced in a hug, prayed and cried together. “I feel bad. The last thing that he would have said was my name and didn’t know me or why he was saying it. And that’s been difficult,” she told the sisters.
Steve “Stevie Steve” Stephens randomly shot and Killed Robert Godwin on Easter Sunday (Apr. 16) in Cleveland and uploaded video footage of the shooting on Facebook. Godwin was walking down the street after having an Easter meal with his children.
Stephens ordered Godwin to say Lane’s name. “She’s the reason that this is about to happen to you,” he told the 74-year-old.
Despite Stephens’ anger towards his ex, Godwin’s children do not blame Joy Lane for Stephens’ actions. “We know it is not her fault,” Robert Godwin Jr. told Fox 8 Cleveland news earlier this week. “She should not feel like it’s her fault.”
Lane, who was placed in protective custody while Stephens was on the loose, says she’s still trying to process the tragedy. She even says people have commented Stephens should have killed her instead of Godwin.
“The hashtags Joy Lane, Joy Lane massacre, I don’t even know who Joy Lane is anymore, or how to pick up all the pieces of my world at this moment. I’ve got a lot of negative comments. Some even said he should have killed me.”
Lane was in a relationship with Stephens for several years. She said he was a “really good guy” who was also kind to her three daughters. She ended the relationship because of Stephens’ gambling issues.
Lane also revealed she last spoke to her ex the night before the shooting. She attempted to call him after Godwin’s murder went viral, but he did not pick up the phone.
“Each one of us forgives the killer, the murderer,” Tonya Godwin-Baines told CNN. She added that her father taught his 10 children the importance of forgiveness.
However, another daughter of Godwin’s, Brenda Haymon, is still grieving and is not ready to forgive Stephens for taking her father’s life.
“All I can say is that I wish he had gone down in a hail of 100 bullets,” she told CNN after learning Stephens had committed suicide. “I wish it had gone down like that,” she added.
After a two-day nationwide search, police found Stephens in Erie County, Pennsylvania on Tuesday (Apr. 18). However, he committed suicide before being apprehended.
She’s back and she certainly won’t be tardy for the party! TMZ is reporting that Kim Zolciak has officially signed on to return for season 10 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
TMZ broke the news early Thursday morning (Apr. 20). Production sources say Kim has signed on the dotted line for the milestone 10th season. However, she will not be holding a peach. Due to filming obligations of her own Bravo show, Don’t be Tardy, Kim will have a “limited role” on RHOA.
She will most likely be billed as a “friend,” much like fellow original housewife Sheree Whitfield during season 8, before returning full-time in season 9.
However, we already got a glimpse of what to expect next season. Kim made a surprise appearance on the season 9 finale and she clearly does not see it for Kenya Moore. The two sparred over Kenya’s shady comments regarding Sheree’s housewarming and Kenya mocked Kim’s “duck lips.”
While Kim and Kenya may bring the heat next season, things are quite chilly between Kim and Kandi Burruss. The two attempted to let bygones be bygones as Kandi still hasn’t been paid for producing Kim’s only mildly-successful song, “Tardy for the Party,” but their encounter was very awkward. I can foresee more fallout from this twosome as well.
With one down and one to go, there still is no official word on whether NeNe Leakes will also return for season 10. Producers reportedly pulled out all the stops to get she and Kim to return as peach-holding housewives.
Back in March, NeNe told TMZ her only demand would be to be paid more than Kim. Though her wish would have probably been granted anyways, the odds of her landing a bigger paycheck just increased if Kim is only a “Friend.”
Hopefully NeNe will also agree to appear on the show, even if in a limited role as well. Fans (me included) would be thrilled to see three of the original housewives appear in season 10.
Evelyn Lozada made her highly-anticipated return to Basketball Wives earlier this week. Though the season just started, she’s already revealing it’s her “most challenging” season yet, but maybe not for the reasons you think.
In an exclusive interview with E! News, Evelyn discusses her trepidations of returning to the reality show she walked away from in 2013.
“I will say this is one of the hardest seasons for me because like of course I’m coming in, people are going to want me to react. People are going to want me to do certain things because they want to prove to the world that I’m still the same person. I really don’t want to disappoint anybody, but I will say that this season was the most challenging out of all seasons.”
Evelyn announced her return to the VH1 show on The Real in December. She stated that the show’s arguments were getting petty and storylines were being repeated and she hoped her return would bring the show some “substance and depth.”
Though the season six premiere episode saw her getting into it with Tami Roman and Jackie Christie, she says you can already see a growth in her approach to such drama.
“[Tami] had cursed me out and I was trying to communicate… Seasons ago, that could’ve been very, very ugly. I wanted to do the show again. Everything doesn’t need to be an argument. We don’t have to call each other bitches and hoes every five minutes. We can actually do better and co-exist and respect each other even if we have some differences. That’s my overall goal this season and I think you will see that.”
However, don’t get it twisted, the old Evelyn may come out eventually, she teased. “This is probably the first season where I feel like… that one cast member went way below the belt and you will see my reaction to that.”
Another day, another negative Chris Brown story. The Tampa nightclub brawl that resulted in Chris punching a photographer may take a hefty paycheck out of his pocket. The club owner is asking Chris to return the $30,000 he was paid since he didn’t complete his scheduled set.
Chris was paid $30K to appear at Aja Channelside and perform an hour-long set. The singer requested the club’s photographer not to snap any pics of him or his entourage during his appearance. So, when he saw flashes, Chris jumped over a couch and punched the photographer in face, splitting his lip open.
The altercation turned into a brawl that included Chris, his bodyguard and the photographer. Police were eventually called to the scene but Chris and his crew left before they arrived.
The Aja Channelside owner says Chris only performed 5 minutes of his hour-long set and they now want their $30 Grand back. Chris could have kept the money had he left the club for his own safety. However, the club says this stipulation does not apply since they believe Chris started the altercation.
The club has notified Chris’ management about forfeiting the paycheck, but there is no word whether they will comply.
The photographer — who says he was only taking crowd shots — intends on pressing charges against Chris and it has been confirmed that Tampa police are investigating Chris for battery.
Though Chris lives an extravagant lifestyle and it’s really unknown how his bad boy image has affected his business/finances, I highly doubt he is strapped for cash. It might be best for Chris to actually return the $30K. He doesn’t need any more unnecessary drama, especially if battery charges are filed against him.
The world was treated to some of the best news we’ve had all year. Serena Williams is pregnant!
The tennis legend subtly announced her bundle of joy in a now-deleted Snapchat post. Serena, who is currently on vacation in Mexico, wore a yellow swimsuit that revealed her baby bump. She captioned the photo “20 weeks.”
This would also mean that Serena was pregnant when she won her 23th Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in January.
Other than the sole Snapchat photo, Serena’s social media has been baby-free. She nor fiancé, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, has said anything else regarding the pregnancy.
This doesn’t mean social media can’t comment on Serena’s baby. Twitter erupted with excitement once the news broke. Many are already anticipating the birth of a future tennis champion, while others simply couldn’t handle that Serena and Beyoncé are pregnant at the same time.
Serena Williams was pregnant when she won her 23rd grand slam tournament at the Australian Open. And did not drop ONE SET. Let that sink in.

A rep for Serena has also confirmed the pregnancy and revealed she is due in the fall. With her last match in January, the No. 1 tennis star’s 2017 competitive season is finished. However, the plan is to return to the court in 2018.
This is the first child for Serena, 35, and Ohanian, 33. The two became in engaged in December and reportedly started dating in 2015.
Former New England Patriots star and convicted murderer Aaron Hernandez was found dead in his prison cell early Wednesday morning (Apr. 19) of an apparent suicide, officials confirmed.
According to the Massachusetts Department of Correction, Hernandez was found hanging in his cell at Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center just after 3 a.m. Wednesday morning and was pronounced dead at around 4 a.m.
“Mr. Hernandez hanged himself utilizing a bed sheet that he attached to his cell window,” Department of Correction spokesman Christopher M. Fallon said.. “Mr. Hernandez also attempted to block his door from the inside by jamming the door with various items. ”
Fallon added, “There’s no indication he left a suicide note.”
The news comes just days after Hernandez had been acquitted on double-murder charges from 2012, though he was still set to serve a life sentence without a chance of parole for his April 2015 murder conviction for fatally shooting semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd.
Ironically, Hernandez’s death happened on the day the Patriots were set to celebrate their Super Bowl win at the White House with Donald Trump.
Aaron Hernandez was 27 years old and is survived by his 4-year-old daughter Avielle, who attended his court date last Wednesday (Apr. 12) and was visibly emotional as she was captured on camera blowing kisses to her father while sitting in her mother’s (Hernandez’s fiancée Shayanna) lap.
If you see something, say something. McDonald’s employees in Erie, Pennsylvania followed this motto and subsequently ended the nationwide manhunt for the “Facebook Killer,” Steve Stephens.
After killing 74-year-old Robert Godwin Sr. on Easter Sunday (Apr. 16) in Cleveland and uploading video footage of the murder on Facebook, police found “Stevie Steve” Stephens in Erie County on Tuesday (Apr. 18). A brief police chase ensued until Stephens’ car was forcibly stopped by a police tactic and he committed suicide.
Police were alerted of Stephens’ whereabouts by McDonald’s employees. Around 11 a.m., Stephens approached the McDonald’s drive-thru in Harborcreek Township. Her ordered 20 chicken nuggets and a large fry.
However, one of the employees thought the customer looked familiar. Other employees noticed the customer’s car and determined it was the “Facebook Killer.”
The Mickey D’s employees reacted to the situation and devised a plan to delay Stephens. “We told him his fries were going to be a minute,” said Henry Sayers, the McDonald’s manager. Stephens received his 20 nuggets, but while he waited for his fries, a McDonald’s employee called police.
“I am pretty sure he figured that we were on to him. He didn’t wait for his fries,” said Thomas DuCharme Jr., the restaurant’s owner and operator. “He just took his nuggets and said, ‘I have to go,’” added Sayers.
Stephens drove off at a normal speed without his fries and was stopped about 5 miles from the McDonald’s. He committed suicide before he was apprehended. Though a cause of death was not immediately released, it’s assumed Stephens shot himself. An autopsy is expected to be performed on Wednesday.
Police have referred to the McDonald’s employee that tipped them as a “concerned citizen.” Though not official, police say the tipster (and possibly other McDonald’s employees involved) could receive the $50,000 reward that was previously announced by the Cleveland mayor for Stephens’ capture.
The man wanted for murdering a 74-year-old man in Cleveland, Ohio and uploading the video to Facebook on Easter Sunday has been found dead of an apparent suicide inside a car in Erie, Pennsylvania Tuesday (Apr. 18).
Pennsylvania State Police have confirmed that the man found in the car, a white Ford Fusion, was Steve Stephens. According to reports, Stephens died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound just after 11 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Pennsylvania State Police said they spotted Stephens Tuesday morning, and following a brief pursuit, he “shot and killed himself.”
Steve Stephens was spotted this morning by PSP members in Erie County. After a brief pursuit, Stephens shot and killed himself.
Police have been looking for the behavioral therapist and former youth mentor, also known as “Stevie Steve,” since Easter Sunday (Apr. 16) after he randomly walked up to 74-year-old Robert Godwin Sr., shot and killed him, and posted a video of the gruesome act on Facebook.
Mr. Godwin, a father of 10, grandfather of 14 and also a great grandfather, was collecting aluminum cans when he was approached by Stephens, who said he was committing the murder because he was angry at his ex-girlfriend Joy Lane.
Stephens also claimed that he had murdered numerous other people in what he described as an “Easter Sunday Massacre,” however, police never found any evidence of additional victims.
Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams said that Pennsylvania Police quickly responded Tuesday morning after receiving a tip that Stephens’ white Ford Fusion was spotted in an Erie McDonald’s parking lot.
When police arrived at the scene, Stephens fled and a brief chase ensued. He pulled over, and as officers approached the vehicle, he committed suicide. Officials haven’t provided any details on how Stephens killed himself, though it’s believe that he shot himself.
“We would have preferred that it didn’t end this way,” Williams said. Cleveland FBI Special Agent Steve Anthony said that the goal was to bring Stephens in alive, but, “unfortunately, that was not the case.”
What was supposed to be a normal Easter Sunday ended in tragedy when a dangerous, still on the loose suspect, killed a random 74-year-old man, Robert Godwin, Sr.
After the gunman, Steve Stephenson, posted the brutal murder on Facebook Sunday afternoon (Apr. 16), the slaying made national headlines. Here are some things to know about the victim of this senseless killing:
Robert Godwin, Sr. was a father of nine and grandfather of 14 grandchildren.
Since the Facebook post has gone viral, more details have emerged about the 74-year-old victim, Robert Godwin, Sr. Perhaps the saddest is that he is leaving behind a robust family to mourn his loss. Godwin was the father of nine children, the grandfather of 14 grandchildren, and a great-grandfather as well.
As news spread of his death, many spoke to media with nothing but the highest of praise in his honor. Cleveland 19 News reporter Sharice Dunning posted a video interview with a man and woman who claimed to be Godwin’s children.
“He’d give you the shirt off his back,” said the man. “I’m not just saying that for these cameras…this man right here was a good man. And I just hate that he’s gone.”
Godwin was retired and enjoyed collecting cans on his walks.
God bless this man & his family. This breaks my heart beyond words. Mr. Robert Godwin Sr. was killed in Cleveland, Rest in peace. ? pic.twitter.com/2Id9Hr8znv
Godwin was a retired foundry worker who was enjoying the benefits of his well-earned post-retirement years. It has been said that one of his activities was collecting aluminum cans. It was noted that he was often seen carrying a shopping bag while out on a walk in case he found any.
It has been reported that he was out on such a walk, looking for cans in the process, when the killer approached him on Easter afternoon. The gruesome video shows Godwin trying to shield himself from the killer with the shopping bag at the time of the murder.
There was no connection between Godwin and his killer.

There’s always a debate in the world as to whether there is meaning to the seemingly chaotic nature of life, and this case only adds more fuel to the fire of that debate. As police looked into the crime, they discovered that there was no connection between the 74-year-old Godwin and his murderer.
It appears that the killing was completely random. The killer, seemingly upset after a recent breakup, chose Godwin at random when he encountered the retired man on his walk following an Easter meal. In the video, the killer can be heard claiming to have killed others, although police have not connected any other victims to the killer.
Knowing that the murder was seemingly completely random makes the killing that much more tragic.
Multiple GoFundMe pages have been set up to help the family.
Not too long after news of the killing broke, multiple GoFundMe pages were established. The only issue is that the family of Godwin has warned the public not to donate to GoFundMe due to the large number of fake pages.
“We’ve gotten word from Mr. Godwin’s family that there are several GoFundMe accounts set up not by the family,” Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams said at a news conference Monday morning (Apr. 17). “So they’re asking people not to contribute to any GoFundMe or any memorial or any account right now in Mr. Godwin’s name.
One such account was created with a goal to raise $20,000 to “help the family cope” by Facebook user Wesley Scott Alexander. The campaign exceeded its goal, raising more than $33,000, including $4,500 in a single hour.
The problem with that is Alexander is a stranger who lives in Phoenix, 2,000 miles away from Cleveland.
The Facebook video of the shooting has prompted debates as to what should be allowed to be shared.
The very graphic video of Robert Godwin, Sr.’s murder was posted to Facebook by the killer after the fact. Early reports indicated that it took place on Facebook Live, but it has since been discovered that the killing was actually recorded and uploaded later.
Regardless, the post itself has sparked debates as to social media sites’ responsibility on videos of this nature being allowed to be shared. On one hand, such a tragic video going viral is heartbreaking. The family of Godwin have asked for the video not be shared in honor of the victim.
Please please please stop retweeting that video and report anyone who has posted it! That is my grandfather show some respect #Cleveland
And while requests like that are understandable, the debate is not clean cut. Yes, violent material is shared on a daily basis (street fights with “WorldStar!!!” being shouted commonly make their rounds on social media), but there are other instances, such as the murder of Philando Castile that shine a light on injustices occurring.
This instance has prompted a debate as to where the line should be drawn.
A nationwide search is currently underway for Steve “Stevie Steve” Stephens after he recorded himself shooting and killing an elderly man and posted the video on Facebook. Cleveland police say they have spoken to Stephens via cellphone, however, he has not been spotted since the leaving the murder scene.
The 37-year-old is believed to have crossed Ohio state lines and is considered armed and dangerous. Here are some things you need to know about Cleveland Facebook shooter, Steve “Stevie Steve” Stephens.
There is a nationwide search for Steve “Stevie Steve” Stephens after he killed 74-year-old Robert Godwin on a Facebook video that went viral.
Cleveland police, U.S. marshals, and the FBI are searching for Steve “Stevie Steve” Stephens, 37, after he shot and killed Robert Godwin Sr., 74, on Easter Sunday (Apr. 16) at around 2 p.m. Stephen recorded the shooting and posted the video on Facebook while also making statements about the murder and his action on Facebook Live. The graphic video went viral.
It does not seem Stephens and Godwin knew each other. Police believe Stephens randomly picked Godwin as the 74-year-old was on a stroll after leaving an Easter meal with his children.
“Found me somebody I’m going to kill, this guy right here, this old dude,” Stephens said in the video upon spotting Godwin. He talked to the man and then pulled out a gun. Godwin attempted to protect himself, but Stephens shot him once in the head. Stephens walked back to his car.
As of the writing of this post, Stephens is still at large and wanted for aggravated murder. Police expanded the search to Pennsylvania, New York, Indiana, and Michigan after Stephens’ cell phone was “pinged” in Pennsylvania.
The search has since become nationwide and Cleveland’s mayor has also announced a $50,000 reward for any information leading to Stephens’ arrest and return.
Stephens claimed he killed 15 other people during his “Easter Day Slaughter.” However, police have not found any other victims.
In other Facebook posts and live videos, Stephens said he had “snapped” and killed between 12-15 people. He called his alleged killing spree an “Easter Day slaughter.” He also wrote that he wouldn’t stop killing until his mother or girlfriend called.
Stephens said on the phone with an unknown man during a video post:
“I snapped, dog, I just snapped… I just killed 13 motherf*ckers man. That’s what I did, I killed 13 people and I’m about to keep killing until they catch me. F*ck it.”
Stephens casually, yet disturbingly, states that he has killed several people (12-15) in the videos and gives descriptions of where those bodies could be found. However, Cleveland police has investigated those areas with no further victims found. Godwin remains Stephens’ sole known victim.
The mentally disturbed Facebook Live shooter blamed his ex-girlfriend and mother for his heinous and senseless act.
Though police have yet to determine a motive, Stephens was clearly mentally disturbed. He stated in the Facebook videos that his girlfriend/ex-fiancée and mother caused him to kill.
“She’s the reason why what’s about to happen today, because she f*cking drove me crazy… The event that’s about to happen within the next few minutes, you can blame it on – her name is Joy Lane. It’s all her fault. My mother too; put her in there… cause she the one who created the f*cking monster I am.”
Stephens even ordered Godwin to say the name “Joy Lane” before shooting him. “She’s the reason this is about to happen to you,” Stephens said.
“I’m killing motherf*ckers, all because of this b*tch,” he said in another video.
“She’s putting me at my pushing point. I was living over there with her, I woke up Friday and I just couldn’t take it anymore, I just left. Here I am, massacring motherf*ckers. Today is the Easter Day Joy Lane massacre.”
Stephen’s mother, Maggie Green, told CNN that she saw her Stephens, her oldest child, on Saturday. Green recounted he eerily told her, “If you see me again, it’ll be a miracle.” The Facebook shooter says he told his mother of his suicidal and homicidal thoughts during this Saturday encounter, but she dismissed him.
Green learned of the viral video from her youngest son. She also stated that she spoke with Stephens after the shooting and said he was “mad with his girlfriend.”
It seems the 37-year-old’s issues went well-beyond his girlfriend and mother and were often dismissed by others.
In one of the Facebook videos, Stephens said people have never cared about him the way he has for others.
“I’m 37 and all my f*cking life I’ve just always been a f*cking monster, man. Always had to prove myself, always had to take the butts of people’s jokes…
People would come to me with their problems, I would deal with my problems every day, but when it comes to my problems, nobody gives a f*ck. It’s like I’m always the bad guy, no matter what the f*ck I do, people always making it out on me… I just don’t give a f*ck no more. I’m beat, I’m tired, you know.”
Stephens also admitted to gambling issues. Owing thousands of dollars to creditors, he filed for bankruptcy in 2015. The debt was paid and case was closed in 2016.
Stephens’ ex-girlfriend, Joy Lane, says he is a “really good guy” and was kind to her three daughters.
Joy Lane has spoken out since her ex-boyfriend’s horrific actions went viral. She is in protective custody for her own safety and cooperating with authorities. Though Stephens says she drove him to kill, Lane says that Steve Stephens is a “really good guy.” “He’s been fabulous to me,” she added.
Lane released a statement to CBS News:
We had been in a relationship for several years. I am sorry that all of this has happened. My heart & prayers goes out to the family members of the victim(s). Steve really is a nice guy…he is generous with everyone he knows. He was kind and loving to me and my children. This is a very difficult time for me and my family Please respect our privacy at this time.
Lane’s neighbors say Stephens was often at her home, most recently, just two or three days ago working on the garage.
A college friend of Stephens also said he was good, fun person. “[Stephens was a] funny guy, always laughing and joking. It was all jokes and fun,” Dawn Arrington tells the Cleveland Plain Dealer. However, she added “He was slightly awkward. He was a different kind of guy.”
Arlington also says Stephens kept in touch with his college friends. He graduated from the now-closed Myers College in 2002 and was a member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity.
The Stephens family has released a statement disassociating from Steve and requesting respect of their privacy.
Meanwhile, Steve Stephens’ family has all but disowned him. A member of his family has deleted posts from Stephens’ Twitter account and posted a lengthy message on behalf of the Stephen’s family.
On behalf of the entire Stephens family, our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Robert Godwin Sr., his family and all of the victims families that have been affected by this tragedy. I have taken the liberty of deleting all of Steve’s tweets, as I do not want any pictures of our family to be associated with this murderer. We absolutely do not condone this type of behavior and this atrocity, therefore we do not consider Steve a part of this family. I would like everyone to refrain from posting pictures of our family in association with Steve, for we do not want our young ones to be burdened by this man. Please respect our privacy.
We do not have information concerning the whereabouts of Steven. If you have any serious inquiries, please DM this account.
Remember to pray for the victims and their families.
Happy Easter,
The Stephens Family
The Twitter account has since been deleted.
A YouTube page shows a much happier Steve Stephens bowling, fishing, and enjoying time with family.
Though his tragic Facebook videos are what went viral, a Youtube page managed by Stephens has been found. The 19 videos show happier times, including Stephens celebrating the Cleveland Cavaliers championship win with his brother and teaching his 5-year-old nephew how to fish.
Stephens is a social worker currently employed by a behavioral health agency and works closely with children and teens.
Many have questioned Steve Stephens’ mental state as he killed Robert Godwin and continued to nonchalantly document the events on social media. Interestingly, the 37-year-old worked at the behavioral health agency, Beech Brook, often working with children, teens, and families.
He began working at Beech Brook in 2008 and has been a vocational specialist with its Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team for children and young adults since 2015.
The facility was closed on Monday (Apr. 17) as a safety precaution. “We are shocked and horrified like everyone else,” said Beech Brook spokeswoman Nancy Kortemeyer. “To think that one of our employees could do this is awful.”
More than 30 schools were on lockdown in Philadelphia when it was suspected Stephens had fled to Pennsylvania. The lockdowns were lifted after about 2 hours.
The man now wanted for aggravated murder has no previous criminal record, but is an avid shooter.
Other than traffic violations dating back to 2001, Steve Stephens did not have a criminal record. However, he was an avid shooter. He posted several videos of himself at a gun rage for target practice.
Though police say he is armed and dangerous, they don’t know if Stephens is currently in possession of any weapons other that the handgun he used to kill Godwin.
Steve Stephens is still at large and is believed to have crossed Ohio state lines. Any tips should be reported to 911 or the FBI.

Steve Stephens has not been seen since the shooting. However, in addition to his mother, a Cleveland detective did speak with him on the phone. Other than urging him to surrender, no other details of this conversation were revealed.
Authorities believe he has crossed Ohio state lines and the search for Stephens is nationwide. Police describe him as a black male, 6-foot-1 and weighs 244 pounds. He is driving a white Ford Fusion and was last seen wearing a dark blue and gray or black striped shirt.
“Armed and dangerous,” any tips or sightings of Steve Stephens should be reported to 911 or 1-800-CALL-FBI. More than 300 tips have already been reported. A $50,000 reward for his arrest has been announced.
Authorities also warn that friends, family, or anyone else assisting or protecting Stephens could face charges. They continue to urge Stephens to turn himself in.
While Phaedra Parks has been a long-standing cast mate and favorite of the hit Bravo reality TV show, Real Housewives of Atlanta, her reign at the top of the RHOA heap might be coming to an end.
Gossip blogs are teaming that Phaedra was “fully exposed” during the four-part reunion special. Nothing quite that solid makes its way into the RHOA Season 9 Reunion Part 1, but Kenya and Kandi sure did lay down a fairly strong foundation from which they could clobber her with.
It started with Kenya, who was positively itching to clarify a few things with Phaedra.
First off, she let Phaedra know that she was not interested in pursuing Phaedra’s ex-husband, Apollo, romantically. Not Now, not before, not ever.
“We fell out over a video. OK? That had nothing to do with it, that Apollo stuff came later,” said Moore.
As for Phaedra’s nasty accusation that Kenya only threw the divorce party for her because she was happy to “have another chance at Apollo,” Kenya cleared that lie right on up.
“I never wanted Apollo so for her to say that, it really shows where her heart is….We were friends, we all had a business dealing that fell out. I should’ve stopped texting him after that, even though the texts were friendly. I took my responsibility for that,” she said.
More importantly, Kenya was quick to point out that she and Phaedra already had deaded and buried this so-called situation with hugs, tears and a prayer years ago. So why was Phaedra using something that was supposedly settled as a weapon against her in 2017?
As for why Phaedra would act so two-faced as she laughs and yucks it up with Porsha about cutting ties with Apollo but then acting like the somber, heartbroken divorcée in her confessionals, Kenya chalked it up to Phaedra’s virgin/whore complex, which has her switch irrationally between both sides.
“What it is, is you want to have two different lives. Your real life and you can ki-ki with Porsha and laugh about you being divorced and you being the best, but then you think about ‘How will the public think about me and how should I feel in this moment?’ and then you readjust to keep up this false image that you have of yourself,” said Kenya.
In the words of the Legendary NeNe Leakes: BLOOP!
While Kenya was quick to call Phaedra’s spade a spade, Kandi also put a good ol’ nail in Phaedra’s coffin. When she was asked about the diminished state of their friendship, Kandi gave Andy an earful when he asked if they could ever repair their friendship.
“I think it’s bullshit. I just feel like whenever we’re on camera, she’s always giving us positive, positive, positive, but then as soon as she doesn’t realize she’s being taped anymore, y’all cut away to her saying her saying something crazy or whatever,” she said.
Phaedra swallowed her spit and batted her aggressively overly done eyelashes in response to that ether from Kandi.
If this is what we’re getting from Kandi and Kenya in part 1 of this mega reunion, I can’t wait to see how much further they slice and dice Phaedra and her lie pies even further. #PhaedraIsOverParty
Police have confirmed that a disturbing video posted on Facebook Live showing an elderly black man being shot and killed in Cleveland, Ohio is real.
The graphic video footage was shared in a live video stream Easter Sunday afternoon (Apr. 16) by a Facebook user going by the name “Stevie Steve,” who was later identified by police as Steve Stephens.
Stephens’ Facebook page has since been taken down along with the video, which you can watch below, but be warned, it is VERY graphic:
The shocking video footage shows Stephens driving down the road. He says, “Found me somebody I’m going to kill, this guy right here, this old dude,” referring to an elderly black man walking down the street. After exiting his vehicle, Stephens walks up to the elderly man and starts talking to him.
“Can you do me a favor?” Stephens asks the man, later identified as 74-year-old Robert Godwin Sr. “Can you say Joy Lane?”
“Joy Lane?” the elderly man asks Stephens. “Yeah, she’s the reason why this is abou to happen to you,” Stephens responds before asking the unidentified man how old he is.
As the man tells him, “I don’t know nobody by that name” and tries to shield himself, Stephens pulls out a gun and fires one shot at his head, killing the man instantly. The video shows the man on the ground bleeding out as Stephens gets back into his vehicle and drives off. Mind you, the entire exchange was recorded on Facebook Live.
Police said the shooting happened at 635 East 93rd Street.
“He was a good guy, he’d give you the shirt off his back,” Godwin’s son said. “I’m not just saying that for these cameras. I”m telling the truth… This man right here was a good man. I hate he’s gone. It’s not real.”
In another video on Facebook, Stephens could be heard talking on the phone with a friend claiming to have killed more than a dozen other people. He said he “just snapped” and had a lot of “built-up anger and frustration.” He wrote on Facebook that he wouldn’t stop killing until his mother and a woman he said was his ex-girlfriend would call him.
“Three years I spent with this bitch,” he wrote. “I wish we never met.” In another Facebook post, Stephens called the shooting(s) an “Easter day slaughter” and called himself “the #goodguy.”
Cleveland Police confirmed in a press conference that Stephens was still on the loose, but said they had searched several locations and were unaware of any other victims. They said no one had seen or heard from him since the “senseless” shooting and didn’t know if he was stil in the area, but urged locals to be pre-cautious until he was found.
Cleveland Police chief Calvin Williams urged Stephens to turn himself in, saying, “He can’t keep victimizing his community based on his issues.” Chief Williams also said Stephens’ family was also urging him to turn himself in to police.
Cleveland Police described Steve Stephens as a 6’1 black man who weighs 244 pounds with a bald head and full beard. He was wearing a dark blue and grey or a black striped polo shirt and was said to be driving a white or cream colored Ford SUV. They said he was “armed and dangerous” and urged anyone who sees him to “not approach” him and “call 9-1-1” instead.
