This past Tuesday night (April 12), a few celebrities flooded Madison Square Garden in New York City for the Knicks vs. Bulls game.

The beautiful Kelly Rowland was in attendance alongside La La Vazquez-Anthony who was there to watch her hubby Carmelo hoop it up. Also in the building were Spike Lee, Swizz Beatz, Floyd Mayweather, Whoopi Goldberg and Vanessa Williams.

Whoopi Goldberg has one hell of a confession: she smoked a big ol’ fat joint just before accepting her Oscar in 1991!

The 55-year-old actress, who won the Academy Award for “Best Supporting Actress” for her role in “Ghost” (that also starred Patrick Schwayze), was so nervous before the ceremony, she smoked some weed to help calm her nerves. In never-before-seen video footage obtained by TMZ, Whoopi reveals she smoked a “wonderful joint” just before winning the award, and was so high during the show, she had to mentally coach herself as she made her way up to the stage.

“I learned a great lesson though. Never smoke pot before there’s the possibility of having to talk to one hundred million people,” she said. “Smoking cigarettes and pot every now and then are one thing that relaxes me and I thought, ‘I’ve got to relax.’

“So I smoked this joint that was the last of my home grown and honey, when he said my name and I popped up, I was like, ‘Oh f**k, oh f**k, up the stairs one two three four five, onto the podium. There’s millions of people, OK grab the statue.’ I knew I should have never had done it.”

After the Oscars, Whoopi says she got a phone call from her mother, who could tell Whoopi was high as a kite cause of her “glistening eyes.”

“My mother called me afterward and said, ‘You smoked didn’t you? Your eyes were just glistening’,” Whoopi said. “So I panicked and got the Oscars tape to see whether you could tell and you just couldn’t. I know you’re not supposed to admit that you smoke pot but I don’t drink alcohol!” (Source)

Can you tell she was high?

Whoopi Goldberg has apologized to the New York Times after going off on them earlier this week for not name dropping her in an article titled “Hollywood’s Whiteout” where they addressed a lack of diversity at this year’s Oscars (i.e. they didn’t nominate ANY black actors/actresses).

Goldberg, who won an Oscar for her role in the movie “Ghost” (1990), wasn’t mentioned in the article, which prompted her to take a stance earlier this week on “The View,” calling the article “sloppy journalism.” And though the popular newspaper has yet to issue an apology (and they probably won’t), Goldberg took it upon herself to issue one of her own yesterday on “The View.”

“I said that I felt the reporting was shoddy and for that I’m going to apologize,” Goldberg said on “The View” on Wednesday (Feb 16). “I personally found the article really confusing, and as I said, I was also quite hurt that Cuba Gooding Jr., Louis Gossett Jr., and myself were not included in this expose about black Hollywood. But for saying it was shoddy reporting, I apologize, New York Times.”

The NY Times released a statement Monday (Feb 14) clarifying the message their piece was presenting. Goldberg wasn’t mentioned because she won her Oscar more than a decade before the time period that the authors were focusing on.

“The error lies with those who are reading the story incorrectly. The point of the piece was not to name every black actor or actress who has been awarded an Oscar, it was to draw a comparison between the number who won prior to 2002 (the year Halle Berry and Denzel Washington won) and those who have won since. And the story states very clearly that in 73 years, prior to 2002, only seven black actors/actresses won Oscars.”

Other Oscar winners not mentioned in the article were Louis Gossett Jr. (who won his in 1982) and Cuba Gooding Jr. (who received his trophy in ’96).

Oprah Winfrey and Whoopi Goldberg are back friends again…..(as if we knew they weren’t)

On a “The Color Purple” reunion episode of her show (to air Monday), Oprah reveals that she and Whoopi squashed their “imaginary beef.”  Apparently, the two never had a problem with each other from the beginning!

“Whoopi came up to me and she said, ‘Can I just ask you something?’ Did I do something to you?’ ” Oprah recalls. “I said, ‘What are you talking about?’ [Whoopi] says, ‘All these years, you know, we’ve been disconnected and I just want to know, did I do something?’ I said, ‘All these years I thought you were mad at me.’”

“It’s crazy,” Whoopi said. “It’s crazy,” Winfrey agrees. “So I thought, you think I’m mad at you? I thought you were mad at me, “What was that?” Whoopi replies, “Who knows?” (People)

That Bill O’Reilly sure does know how to get under a person’s skin! And he did just that on a recent episode of “The View,” which caused two of the show’s co-hosts to storm off the set.

O’Reilly caused quite a stir Thursday morning (Oct 14) when he went head-to-head with The View’s Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar over the topic of the Ground Zero Mosque. Bill said that he doesn’t agree with a mosque being built there and called it “inappropriate.” Why? Because he says “a lot of the 9/11 families who I know, say, ‘Look, we don’t want that.”

And after going back-and-forth over the issue for a little while, Whoopi and Joy got so fed up with Bill’s a**hole-ish antics that they just threw their hands up, and walked off the set.

Our favorite outspoken talk show host Whoopi Goldberg caught everyone off guard Monday (Jul 19) on “The View” when she revealed that she was still “hazy” from partying the night before in Vienna, Austria.

Whoopi had a serious case of the giggles as she hosted Monday’s episode of ABC‘s “The View” and said that it was because she was jet lagged and “drugged up” because she has a fear of flying and has to be put to sleep whenever she gets on an airplane.

First she’s defending Mel Gibson and now she’s spouting out random ish while hosting a live televison show. Something tells us this isn’t the first time she’s been “high” while hosting “The View.”

This drama surrounding Mel Gibson and his ex, Oksana Grigorieva has been the biggest news as of lately after audio leaked of Mel making racial slurs and admitting to knocking her teeth out. Most people believe that Mel Gibson’s career is completely over and no one other than Whoopi Goldberg has come to his defense. This woman had the nerve to say: “I don’t like what he did here, but I know Mel, and I know he’s not a racist. He may be a bonehead. I can’t say he’s a racist having spent time with him in my house with my kids. Make no mistake (he’s not a racist).”

Huh?

Clearly, alot of people weren’t happy with Whoopi coming to Mel Gibson’s defense, and now Whoopi is pissed that people are pissed with her. So on The View this morning

Yesterday morning (Mon. Jul 12)  Whoppi Goldberg, co-host of The View, took command of a debate the women were having about Mel Gibson‘s most recent racist comments and defended Gibson against statements that he is a racist. She also blamed his 2006 anti-Semitic tirade on alcohol and said he couldn’t be a racist.

Goldberg took up for Gibson saying:

“I don’t like what he did here, but I know Mel and I know he’s not a racist… He may be a bonehead… I have had a long friendship with Mel… You can say he’s being a bonehead but I can’t sit and say that he’s a racist having spent time with him in my house with my kids. I can’t say it and so I really just need to say that. I don’t like what he’s done. Make no mistake…”

None of the other panelists seemed to agree with Goldberg though, and many are wondering why she would choose to defend him. Check out the video footage below!

Actress/singer Janet Jackson was spotted Thursday (Jun 3) in Harlem, New York City as she filmed scenes for Tyler Perry‘s latest movie project, the film adaptation of “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf.” Also spotted in Harlem on the set of the new movie were Whoopi Goldberg and director Tyler Perry.

The movie will be written, directed and produced by Tyler Perry and features a cast that includes Loretta Divine, Kimberly Elise, Jill Scott, Kerry Washington, Anika Noni Rose and more. Mariah Carey had also been cast but pulled out at the last minute for “medical reasons.” Mr. Perry said actress Thandie Newton will replace her in the film, scheduled to be release sometime in 2011.

International superstar Beyonce was spotted Wednesday night (May 19) as she left her hotel in Wahsington, D.C. on her way to perform for President Barack and First Lady Michelle Obama‘s second White House State Dinner. We all know that the ladies on ABC‘s hit morning show The View tend to make some off the wall comments, but this one definitely caught us off guard and surprised the crap out of us. The ladies were discussing the ongoing situation between actress Sandra Bullock and her cheating husband, Jesse James and Whoopi Goldberg took it upon herself to go against the opinions stated by her fellow show hosts and said that she had cheated a couple of times on her ex-husband:

“It’s nobody’s fault. Maybe he was looking for something different…

“Hey, listen, I did it five or six times … Yes, I screwed around. Yes, while I was married. I made those mistakes too, yeah. It happens sometimes. It happens,” Goldberg said. “Maybe he was trying to find something different too.”

Wow. We think that there are quite a few people who would agree with Whoopi, but we are more so shocked by the fact that Whoopi and her …umm, how do we put this…. “not-so-attractive” self was able to find someone who would pipe her down behind her husband’s back.

Simply fascinating, wouldn’t you agree??

The great playwright and director himself Tyler Perry has reportedly rounded up the likes of Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey for a new film he’s working on, entitled “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf.”

The Madea Goes to Jail filmmaker took on the challenge of adapting Ntozake Shange‘s controversial 1975 play for the big screen last September (09) after Whoopi Goldberg’s planned Broadway revival fell victim to a lack of investors.  But Perry is forging ahead with the movie version of the play and will reunite with Jackson, who stars in his “Why Did I Get Married Too?” and Carey, who won critical acclaim for her role in “Precious.” He has also landed Goldberg for his project, in addition to The Last King of Scotland star Kerry Washington and singer Macy Gray.

Tyler himself also revealed that actresses Phylicia Rashad, Jurnee Smollett, Kimberly Elise, Kerry Washington and Loretta Divine will also appear in the film, which appears to be star-studded so far, just as the rest of TP’s movies have been.

Award winning actress and television personality Whoopi Goldberg was welcomed by Disney Theatrical Productions for a one night only performance as “Rafiki” in the Broadway production of “Disney’s The Lion King.” This particular performance, held at the Minskoff Theatre in New York City Thursday night (Jan 14)  was taped for an upcoming feature on ABC’s “The View.”

Word on the sidewalk is that she is now a spokeswoman for a new campaign by Gucci entitled, “Tattoo Heart,” where she’ll promote a limited line of bags that will benefit UNICEF, a non-profit organization that benefits children. YAY, FOR WHOOPI! » I can’t say that I watch “The View” on a regular basis. I only catch snippets on youtube when something crazy goes down. It’s something about middle-aged women fighting and arguing that just gets my gears a-moving! Anyhow, Whoopi Goldberg officially got the spot on The View everybody and their mama has been trying to get for months! Good for her. They need a cool and non-chalant voice like hers to calm the tone down a bit. She’s supposed to start the show in September, the day after Labor Day to be exact.

BOBBY, OSAMA AIN’T WORRIED ABOUT YOU! » Bobby Brown still thinks Osama Bin Laden is after him. He apparently beefed up his security two weeks ago in Australia, where he’s been on tour – the reason behind said “tour” is pending investigation. Brown said in Melbourne: “I figure if Bin Laden wants me, and everybody is looking for him, it probably won’t happen. But if he wants to try and find me for something so stupid, he can do what he wants. I have to leave it in the hands of my higher power. Come on, if anybody [else was] threatened by Al Qaeda, they’d take it seriously.” All 8 of the people who showed up for the “concert” didn’t take it seriously and showed up, but they didn’t take Brown seriously, either. But back to the subject at hand. After years and years of being put off because of this, and because of that, R. Kelly’s child pornography case is finally going to trial. Kelly was charged with 21 counts of child pornography and having sex with an underage girl in 2002 after a tape surfaced showing a man who appeared to be Kelly making time with a 14-year-old girl. The seven counts of having sex with a minor were later dropped because the video failed to show actual sexual intercourse. Kelly, who claims he is not the man in the video, faces a 15-year jail sentence plus a fine to the tune of $100,000 if he’s found guilty.

At a hearing held yesterday in Chicago, Judge Vincent Gaughan announced that Kelly’s trial will begin September 17 – a decision the singer’s reps are spinning as great news. “As Robert [Kelly] said many times, he believes in our system of justice,” a spokesperson for the star said. “He’s confident that when all the facts come out, it will be clear he’s not guilty of any crime.
