The 18th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were hosted Sunday (Jan 29) in Los Angeles, and here is the complete list of winners!

The SAG Awards are held annually to give film and television actors a chance to honor their peers in a ceremony that sheds light on those who will walk away from the Academy Awards next month with an Oscar trophy.

The night’s biggest winners were Viola Davis, “The Help,” Mary Tyler Moore (who accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award from Dick Van Dyke midway through the show), the “Boardwalk Empire,” “Modern Family” and more.

Award winning Actress Viola Davis is featured on the cover of the upcoming August 2011 issue of Essence Magazine. In a cover story titled “Hollywood’s Best-Kept Secret,” the Oscar nominated movie star, who is currently promoting the feature film “Help,” talks about struggles black women face and more.

“As Black women, we’re always given these seemingly devastating experiences — experiences that could absolutely break us,” she says. “But what the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls the butterfly. What we do as Black women is take the worst situations and create from that point.”

Some of the biggest female names in Black Hollywood came out in support of the 4th Annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon last Thursday night (Feb 24).

Held in Beverly Hills, CA at the Beverly Hills Hotel, the event featured notable red carpet appearances from celebs like Jennifer Hudson, Brandy, Tia & Tamera Mowry, Serena Williams, Lauren London, Tatyana Ali, Gabrielle Union, Jill Scott and many more.

Many stars came out in support of the “Harry Potter and The Deathly Hollows, Part 1” premiere in New York City on Monday (Nov 15). We think it’s safe to say that the HP mania has taken off again!

While some came in solo, others like Sarah Jessica Parker and Joey Fatone (formerly of *N Sync) took their children to see the long awaited part one of two films for the final chapter of the hit movie series.  Lourdes Leon, known for her clothing brand with mom Madonna, was also in attendance as well as Keri Russell, Melissa Joan Hart, Gaboury Sibide and Viola Davis.

The male stars of the movie Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Tom Felton and Ralph Fiennes were all suited up and dapper on the black carpet, while Hermione (Emma Watson) looked absolutely gorgeous in a simple, long, sleek black dress.

Congratulations are in order for actor Denzel Washington and actress Viola Davis for each taking home trophies last night (Sun. Jun 13) after the 64th Annual Tony Awards in New York City.

Denzel won “Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play” and Viola was awarded with “Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play.” The awards were for their performances in the Broadway play “Fences.”

Oscar nominees Viola Davis and Taraji P. Henson are featured on the cover of the May 2009 issue of Ebony Magazine, on stands nationwide Thursday (Apr. 14th).

Academy Award-nominees Viola Davis and Taraji P. Henson have both proven that when you know your worth, no one can take it from you. At the 81st annual Oscar ceremony, the two found themselves waiting to win the same award for best supporting actress. While the audience applauded for winner Penelope Cruz, they both shared in a symbolic moment that still remains dear. “We looked right at each other, we connected,” says Henson. “We had to have that moment, just for each other, to let each other know, ‘You know what? It’s still all good.’”

In an exclusive photo shoot for Ebony magazine’s May issue, Davis and Henson candidly talk about the challenges that continue to face Black actresses in Hollywood. “Black directors really don’t offer me movies,” says Davis, who takes no offense to this. “Most of the work I do is really in predominantly White films. That’s just how it works.” (p. 80)

The May 2009 issue of Ebony Magazine also lists its annual list of “The Most Infulential Black Americans.” This year’s “Behind the Power” list turns the spotlight on the top Blacks in President Barack Obama’s administration.
