Rapper Drake was originally on this record but I guess he wasn’t available to shoot the video, which has left us a bit speechless after watching it. It’s basically soft core porn and there’s even an “Explicit” warning before the video starts. Is this really what it takes to sell music these days? LOL

R&B crooner Trey Songz performed on stage at Tuesday night’s (Oct 27) Power 105.1’s Powerhouse concert in East Rutherford, NJ. Right after Songz’ performance he stuck around to watch his friend Chris Brown make his big comeback:

“Chris is a performer. In spite of all that’s been going on in his personal life, he’s gonna get out there and perform,” Songz said before Brown hit the stage. “I’m confident in that. As a friend, as a brother, I wanna see him go out there and shut it down. I believe everybody deserves a second chance. In God’s eyes, none of us are perfect, and he forgives us every day. He deserves a second chance, and I commend Power 105 for giving it to him.”

Rapper DMX walked the Red Carpet of the 2009 VH1 Hip Hop Honors Wednesday night (Sep 23) at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York City. His appearance at this year’s show marked his first public appearance/performance in at least three years. And we all know all of the drama he’s been getting himself into in the meantime.

As expected, Ms. Whitney Houston soared to the top of the Billboard 200 this week with her new album, I Look To You. With very little promotion and no music video, the album sold a very impressive 305k copies. This is Whitney’s best opening week sales since the Nielsen SoundScan began in 1991.

We expect that these numbers will go even higher in no time. With her tell-all interview with Oprah airing next week on September 14th and 15th and two new music videos on the way (”I Look To You” premieres this week and “Million Dollar Bill” premieres next week) we’re sure the album will soon go platinum.

In other Billboard chars news, Trey Songz’s newest album Ready debuted at #3 with 131k sold and Miley Cyrus‘ EP The Time Of Our Lives debuted at #2 with 153k sold.

Here Jamie Foxx can be seen paying tribute to Michael Jackson (comedically, of course) as the host of the 2009 BET Awards, which aired live from Los Angeles Sunday night (Jun 28) on BET. Jamie Foxx is probably one of the few people who can make light of a sad situation and have everyone laughing and crying at the same time. The BET Awards was supposed to dedicate the entire show to Michael, per the press release sent out Friday, but failed to impress.

The show itself was pretty good, but they should have never mentioned dedicating the show to MIchael if they didn’t have the time to do it right. That said, we really hope they put together an entire special to honor the late King of Pop so they can at least try to save face. Apparently I missed this video that was released a couple of weeks ago. It’s Plies‘ latest music video featuring Trey Songz, and it’s titled I’m Da Man. If you haven’t taken a listen to Plies’ latest album, “The Definition of Real,” make sure you pick it up today, because it’s in stores now!

‘Last Time’ is the third single from R&Ber Trey Songz’s latest album Trey Day (Atlantic), it was produced by Bryan-Michael Cox and Kendrick “WyldCard” Dean. This was one of my favorite cuts from the album, as I’ve stated many times, I’m really glad they finally made it a single.

Yes! ‘Last Time’ is going to be the next single from Trey Day (Atlantic)! I absolutely love that song and I’m glad he made it a single, and I’m sure all the fellas who got ‘caught up’ in the middle would strongly agree. Hell, they probably thank Trey for making this damn song! LOL. First it was T.I., then Akon, some other people in between, and now Trey Songz. Mr. Trey Day himself has his very own online video of him attacking an audience member after something is thrown at him. The video above shows someone throwing ice at the R&B singer while performing “Wonder Woman” at a club, and Trey stops the music and takes his bodyguarad with him as he jumps into the crowd proceeding to beat the guy’s ass. Then he hops back on stage and continues the show with his new single “Can’t Help But Wait.” The next time I’m at an intimate concert I’m gonna throw something at the person on stage and see what happens!

Trey Songz put his “male model” face on once again for another fashion magazine spread. This time around it’s the December 2007 issue of Blackmen Magazine. The latest news surrounding Songz is his recent arrest in Springfield, MA. He’s considering taking legal action against the police department for wrongfully arresting him and his entourage. Oh yeah, and ake sure you pick up that album “Trey Day” if you haven’t already!

Trey Songz says he is contemplating legal action against the Springfield, Massachusetts, police department after he and two members of his entourage were arrested early Sunday morning following a performance at Springfield’s Hippodrome. In an incident involving several police officers that followed a person firing a gun into the crowd outside the Hippodrome, Songz (real name: Tremaine Neverson) was arrested for resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, according to Springfield police. Kenny Bugg, who was with Songz, was arrested on the same charges while another man in their party, Jasper Murray, has disorderly conduct charges pending. Both offenses are misdemeanors. Anthony Williams, the man who allegedly fired the gun, is charged with a number of crimes including assault with intent to murder, assault and battery and assault with a dangerous weapon.

“The show went real well. No incidents [inside],” Songz recalled on Tuesday morning (November 6), describing the night. “As soon as we finished [performing], they turned the lights on and everyone started to leave.” Ironically, the end of the show marked the beginning of Songz and company’s problems. They exited through the performers’ entrance, but that entrance leads into the same parking lot used by the general public.

“My homie goes to get one of the police officers to escort us out of there and [someone in the parking lot] started bussin’ [firing a gun],” Songz recalled. “So we started ducking in the car. So my homie runs back to the car and gets in like, ‘They bussin’!’ By the time we look up, we see the police [had] apprehended somebody, so we said, ‘We ain’t finnin’ to wait.’ We got out the car and proceeded to walk, ’cause the hotel is only a block away. The police stopped us and were like, ‘Hold up, hold up.’ “

Da Brat was arrested early Thursday after a dispute with a waitress at Studio 72, Jermaine Dupri’s clu. 33-year-old Shawntae Harris was charged with aggravated assault, said DeKalb County Police spokeswoman Mekka Parish. Club owners couldn’t immediately be reached for comment. But according to the police report this is how it all went down: The waitress accidentally bumped into Brat and the two proceeded to get into a little “verbal scuffle.” The waitress apparently didn’t want to hear Mr. Harris’ mouth so she walked away and baby gangster (Da Brat) took a bottle of rum, and hit the waitress in the face with it! Parish said the waitress, who sustained a deep laceration to the cheek and some swelling on the forehead, was driven to a hospital by a friend. I mean really, was it that serious??? Anyhow, Shawntae was released the next day after posting $50,000 bond. It’s unknown whether or not he’ll face any charges. I know the government is making a killing off of these celebs getting arrested left and right! If they keep this shit up, we’ll be out of debt in no time! Y’all know I’m bullshittin’ right? LOL!

Okay, this is surprisingly digestible – you know what – I’m not even gonna lie. I will admit, I was a little skeptical, about this whole Face Off ordeal at first. But so far, all of the recent material I have heard from these two are gold. It is highly likely this will push at least Gold status; citing how Bow Wow and Omarion’s debut collaboration, “Let Me Hold You,” did the equivalent anyhow. And with solid delivery like that, who can complain?

Being a die-hard Trey Songz fan, he already was the “enabler”. So, in essence, I was ultimately looking forward to this kind of collaboration. Seeing how I am also a Jigga fan as well, I was floored. I have yet to believe such a collaboration is possible. Although with the type of production, backing with Jay’s flow, on this track is nothing to mess with, I kind of felt this continuity going in my mind with Trey’s voice so I was not surprise once he made his brief appearance. Usually [rappers] adding to a Hova’s rap is highly unnecessary and almost seems unfeasible in correlation with the beat. But Trey sort of hung in there and stuck it out with the arrangements – I did not get that vibe at all.

Trey Songz reigns on Trey Day! Equally up to par as his debut album, I Gotta Make It, if not greater! The album starts off with this amazing introduction from Bun B, of UGK, followed by a suit of sonic sounds and vast harmonies; Trey introduces a different side of him prior to I Gotta Make It, a combination of rapping and singing, with songs like “Long Gone Missin’”, the smash single “Wonder Woman” (produced by Danja) and, my favorite, “No Clothes On”. =D

Now, halfway into the album, it takes a more slow and seductive route with songs like “Sex For Yo Stereo,” “Last Time,” “Can’t Help But Wait,” and “Grub On”. The album next goes up tempo with “Fly Together,” another favorite of mine, featuring Jim Jones. Next is “Store Run,” a nice melodic Dre & Vidal production. This song I really like though, “Missin’ You,” mainly because it’s a Stargate production – I knew it, like the back of my hand, you can totally tell from jump! Anyway the album makes its culmination with “Role Play” and the Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis production “We Should Be”.

BOTTOM LINE: Overall the album has a lot of variety compared to I Gotta Make It, I see more growth and uniqueness with harmonies, it’s just a real smooth R&B album – it’ll be a nice gift for your guy’s birthday or whatever. Make sure you get Trey Day in stores October 2nd or you can pre-order the album via the links above! See my album review for J. Holiday’s Back Of My Lac after the cut!
