AIRDATE: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 23RD 2008 ON BET @ 8 PM EST. The 2008 BET HIp-Hop Awards went down in Atlanta over the weekend, and here you can check out the photos from the red carpet. If you haven’t heard yet, Katt Williams was nixed from his hosting duties, and T-Pain filled in for the comedian at the last minute. BET made up some bogus story talking about how Katt bet T-Pain he couldn’t beat him in a break dance battle, and how Katt’s hosting duties were up for grabs to whoever won. It later came to light that Williams had been arrested on the morning of the show. Sound familiar, anyone? *Cough* T.I. *cough* got arrested *cough* last year *cough* and he was *cough* supposed to perform. I’m just saying…

The 2008 BET Awards go down tonight live from Hollywood, and in true BET fashion, you know some parties and events have to precede the ceremony. Automobile giant Dodge and beer producer Coors Light sponsored a pool tournament at Hollywood Billiards this past Saturday in Los Angeles, and a slew of celebrities showed up: Angie Stone, Hill Harper, Paul Pierce (Boston Celtics MVP), my baby Lauren London, and Miami Heat player Dwyane Wade, just to name a few. Y’all know it’s that time of the year again. Spring Bling 2008, BET’s annual spring break celebration, was filmed this year in Riviera Beach, Florida. You already know this shit is gonna be on repeat for the next couple of months. So until that happens, maybe these flicks will hold you over!
Tyra Banks presents to you The 1st Annual Fiercee Awards. The award show honors the women of America’s Next Top Model. The show was taped for The Tyra Banks Show at Chelsea Studios in New York on Friday and airs on April 30th.
VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club: Bootcamp Edition recent premiered and a rather shocking clip of model Toccara Jones telling off the judges (Dr. Ian Smith in particular) on an upcoming episode. The clip is obviously unedited, and the version that will be shown on TV will probably be different. But luckily, you can peep the video in its raw form via youtube.
If you ask me, I agree with every single thing Toccara said, and no I do not believe that she was not out of line for cursing those judges out. While I haven’t been following this season, I have seen some episodes from the previous seasons and the judges are a little self-righteous and condescending when it comes to weigh-ins and what-not and it’s about time someone speaks their mind and tells them what’s up. They need to remember that this is Celebrity FIT club and not The Biggest Loser. The object of the show is to learn how to eat healthy and be fit … not to necessarily lose weight.
VH1 thinks their slick. I know they leaked this to get people to watch the show. Well it worked. I’m definitely going to start watching now!
Former America’s Next Top Model hopeful Toccara Jones has been making moves lately. Despite the fact that she obviously didn’t win, she appears on a lot of television specials for BET, has been featured in several print/modeling campaigns for Lane Bryant, participated in the second season of VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club and now she’s featured on the cover of the May 2008 issue of King Magazine. This particular issue hits stands March 12th!
