BET‘s popular comedy-drama TV series “The Game” is back!

As the #1 sitcom debut in the history of all cable TV, season 4 of The Game left viewers on the edge of their seats, and the seduction continues as infidelity, ambition, secrets and betrayal collide to make Season 5 the most compelling yet.

Picking up where it left off, the show’s 5th season features the entire principal cast, including Melanie (Tia Towry Hardrict), Derwin (Pooch Hall), Malik (Hosea Chanchez), Tasha (Wendy Raquel Robinson) and Jason (Coby Bell), as well as notable guest appearances from R&B singer Brandy and many others.

There’s still bad blood between Mel and Tasha, which spills out during planning for the Saber Sunbeam fashion show where Tasha recruits guest star NeNe Leakes, and Mel is not impressed.

Meanwhile, Jason and Chardonnay (Brandy) start to hit it off and she wants him to meet all of her friends. Jason is a bit hesitant at first, but he later warms up and converses with them about various racial issues.

Season 5′s two-part premiere episode, titled “Skeletons…The Truth Pact,” opens with Melanie grappling with Derwin’s accusation that she had an abortion.

Meanwhile, Malik and Tasha deal with a drunken Jenna. Later, Tasha corners Malik about his relationship with Jenna; and a wild night comes back to haunt Jason.

It was a big night in Hollywood Thursday night (Jan 5) as BET celebrated the return of two of their original series “The Game” and “Let’s Stay Together” at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

Some of the stars who walked the red carpet of the premiere party were “The Game” actors Pooch Hall, Tia Mowry, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Hosea Chanchez and Coby Bell, as well as R&B singer/actress Brandy, singer/socialite Teyana Taylor, “Let’s Stay Together” actors RonReaco Lee and Joyful Drake, and more.

Kyla Pratt even showed up with her boyfriend/baby daddy Danny Kilpatrick, as well as Larenz Tate, Vanessa Williams, Elise Neal, The Game’s creator Mara Brock Akil and a few others.

BET‘s top-rated scripted series “The Game” is set to return for a brand new season beginning Tuesday, January 10th 2012 at 10pm.

As the #1 sitcom debut in the history of all cable TV, season four of The Game left viewers on the edge of their seats.

The seduction continues as infidelity, ambition, secrets and betrayal collide to make season five the most compelling yet.

Picking up where it left off, Melanie (Tia Mowry Hardrict) contends with Derwin’s (Pooch Hall) abortion accusation; Malik (Hosea Chanchez) and Tasha (Wendy Raquel Robinson) struggle to wrangle an intoxicated Jenna (Tika Sumpter); and Kelly (Brittany Daniel) is still off in the world trying to find herself, leaving Jason (Coby Bell) forced to come to terms with his feelings towards Black women.

The new season also ushers in a new love interest for Jason, who is sure to shake things up!

BET also revealed that R&B singer Brandy will join the cast of “The Game” as a recurring character (Maybe she’s Jason new love interest?).

According to recent reports, viewers can also expect guest appearances from Selita Ebanks, NeNe Leakes, Estelle, Shawn Marion,  Rockmond Dunbar, DeRay Davis and the Emmy Award winning Loretta Devine, among others.

“The Game,” created by Mara Brock Akil (who also created the hit UPN series “Girlfriends”), was canceled by the CW due to low viewership after three seasons back in May 2009 when it was averaging only 2 million viewers.

BET picked the show up in 2010, and its subsequent Season 4 premiere in January 2011 drew 7.7 million viewers, making it the best showing ever for the series on cable broadcast, and BET’s most watched telecast.

With renewed interest in the show and a star-studded list of guest appearances, it will most definitely be interesting to see how many people watch the show when it premieres in January 2012.

Jessica Simpson is pregnant!

In Touch Weekly confirmed last week that the 31-year-old singer is expecting her first child with fiance Eric Johnson.

“She’s already having kooky cravings!” a friend shares, especially nacho chips dipped in chocolate — “which satisfy her urge for salty and sweet” — cheese-flavored popcorn and non-alcoholic margaritas.

Despite the baby on the way (Jessica is due in the Spring), the couple still plan on marrying this November as planned.

The former “Sister, Sister” actress and her husband of two years, actor Cory Hardrict, welcomed their son to the world yesterday (Tue. Jun 28) in Los Angeles.

This is the first child for the 32-year-old actress, who now stars on BET’s “The Game.”

“We are both so excited to be parents. We have been wanting this a long time!” the couple said in a joint statement when they announced that they were expecting earlier this year.

Mowry’s pregnancy, first announced back in January, was documented by The Style Network for “Tia and Tamera Take 2,” her new reality show with her twin sister Tamera Mowry.

The show is set to premiere in August.

“I know that there are people out there who say that there is nothing sexy about being pregnant,” says Tia Mowry. “Then there are some people who embrace the sexuality. I feel empowered; I feel sexy,” Mowry told People.com.

The 32-year-old actress and her husband, actor Cory Hardrict are expecting their first child (a baby boy) in early July.

And Tia says the inspiration for the naked pregnant shot came from her mother, who regrets not having taken such a shot herself when she was pregnant with Tia and her twin sister, fellow actress Tamera Mowry.

Speaking of Tamera, she and Tia both — who once starred alongside each other in the hit sitcom “Sister Sister” — will share the TV spotlight once again in a new reality show titled “Tia & Tamera Take 2,” which premieres on the Style Network later this summer.

All of you ‘The Game’ fans can breathe a sigh of relief as the show has been renewed for a fifth season. According to Deadline, BET will make the official announcement Wednesday that they have ordered 22 episodes for the show’s upcoming season.

After BET rescued the show from cancellation its former network The CW, the series has brought in record ratings. When ‘The Game’ debuted on BET earlier this year, it pulled in an astounding 7.7 million viewers, which topped the 2 million viewers it pulled while on The CW network and the 4.4 million that said goodbye when the 4th season ended.

BET is also expected to renew their newest original series ‘Let’s Stay Together’ and announce a series pickup for ‘Reed Between the Lines’ which stars former ‘Girlfriends’ actress Tracee Ellis Ross as a busy psychiatrist, and also stars former ‘Cosby Show’ actor Malcolm Jamal-Warner.

Tia Mowry loves being pregnant!

The star, who is pregnant with her first child with her husband, actor Cory Hardrict, says that she enjoys the perks of pregnancy and is “obsessed” with feeling her baby kick up a storm inside her belly.

“You get special treatment, I’m not going to lie. Everyone is always making sure you’re okay,” The Game star, 32, told PEOPLE at the Essence Black Women in Television event Thursday. “And feeling your baby kick for the first time is one of the most amazing, beautiful things I’ve ever felt. The first time I felt him kick I was laying down in my bed watching A Baby Story and I felt [what I call a] ‘butterfly flutter,’” she adds. “I laugh with him when he kicks because he’ll tickle me.”

Mowry says she is now “obsessed” with the kicks and explains that if she hasn’t felt one in a while, her husband Cory Hardrict will try and motivate their future son. “Sometimes my husband will just tap my belly like, ‘Hey! Are you in there?’” she said. “But he moves when I eat because he’s eating and loves it.”

Mowry and her husband have also been spending a lot of time researching baby names, and while she is not ready to reveal what’s on the short list, she has given some clues. “We’re definitely looking at ‘C’ names because my husband’s name is Cory. And the meaning that we’re looking at is ‘warrior’ because my husband thinks he’s this warrior,” Mowry said, rolling her eyes in jest.

With a due date of July 3rd, Mowry is already feeling a profound connection with her son. “I now know what the word ‘love’ means, but this goes even deeper than that,” she said. “It is just amazing.”

It’s a boy!

Pregnant actress Tia Mowry, who currently appears on the hit series “The Game,” has revealed to Just Jared that she and her husband Cory Hardrict are expecting a a boy.

“It feels great!” Cory told JustJared.com of being a dad-to-be. “Tia and I are very excited to be bringing life into this world. Just thinking about my child coming here brings a tear to my eyes and I will try to be the best father in the universe!”

Mowry’s due date is July 3rd, according to a statement her rep released last month, and her pregnancy will be documented by the Style Network for a reality show to air later this year. She and her twin sister Tamera taped the special, titled “Tia & Tamera Take 2″ for the cable network last year. Cory stars in the upcoming action flick “Battle: Los Angeles,” due in theaters nationwide on March 11th.

“We are both so excited to be parents,” Tia and Cory said in a joint statement. “We have been wanting this a long time!”

Congratulations are definitely in order for BET and the latest addition to their line-up of sitcoms, “The Game!”

According to stats released this week, when the show made its big return to television Tuesday night (1.11.11) via BET (after being dropped from the CW 2 two years ago), “The Game” brought in nearly 8 million viewers, making history as the biggest audience EVER on the network!

In three seasons on the low-rated CW broadcast network, the sitcom The Game never averaged more than 2.3 million viewers, and in its final season, it averaged a measly 1.68 million, but in its debut on the BET cable network on Tuesday, the show attracted 7.7 million, putting it ahead of much of its broadcast competition. It was the biggest audience ever to tune in to a program on the Viacom-owned network.

“It’s so great to hear from a community that feels they’re being overlooked by the major networks,” BET chief Debra Lee told Advertising Age magazine. Separately, she said in a statement “It is clear these two shows are real game changers for the Network and the proven success of last night tells us that our viewers are not only passionate about the types of programming that we offer, but continue to crave on-air programming that reflects and respects our voices.” (Source)

Tia Mowry is pregnant!

Mowry, who starred alongside her identical twin Tamera in the hit 90′s sitcom “Sister, Sister,” and also stars in the newly re-launched BET series “The Game” and her husband, actor Cory Hardrict, are expecting their first child together.

Her rep confirmed the news exclusively to US Magazine, adding that the actress’s due date is July 3rd. This makes baby #1 for 32-year-old Mowry and her husband of two years, “Battle: Los Angeles” actor Cory Hardrict, 31. Tia’s pregnancy will be documented by the Style Network for a show set to air later this year.

“We are both so excited to be parents,” the couple said in a statement. “We have been wanting this a long time!”

Former CW sitcom “The Game” is almost ready to head back to TV! According to our friends over at AOL BV Buzz, BET and Paramount have struck a deal to develop new episodes for the popular half-hour comedy/drama series. All that’s left at this point is for the actors to get under contract.

“The deal is done between the two networks,” the source told BV Buzz. “Now it’s a matter of getting the actors under contract again.” When The CW canceled the show in May of last year, the contracts with the shows stars Tia Mowry, Pooch Hall, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Hosea Chanchez, Brittany Daniel and Coby Bell weren’t optioned and ultimately expired on June 30, 2009. Now BET has to negotiate new contracts with the actors, which is expected to be done within the next two weeks.

“The show will have the same production value, so the actors will make the same type of money they made when they did ‘The Game’ for The CW,” the source shared. There is a conflict now with actor Bell, who played Jason Pitts on the sports-themed comedy. It was just announced that he is joining the cast of the hit USA show, ‘Burn Notice.’ “He will likely still be able to work on ‘The Game,’ but only as a recurring character instead of being a series regular,” the source explained.

Once the deal is finalized, ‘The Game’ will begin production on new episodes in May and shoot on location in Atlanta. Mara Brock Akil, who also produced ‘Girlfriends,’ will return as the executive producer of the show as well. BET hopes to use ‘The Game’ to launch their new scripted television division, something that Debra Lee, CEO of Black Entertainment Television told BV Buzz when we reported on this story last summer.

It looks as though the 3rd Annual Essence Magazine Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon was the place to be! Held Thursday night (Mar 4) at the Beverly Hills Hotel in California, the annual event honored a room full of women, including Cicely Tyson, Gabourey Sidibe, Zoe Saldana, Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige and more for their achievements in Hollywood and in the entertainment industry.
