Keyshia Cole Performs a “Calling All Hearts” Mini-Concert on BET’s 106 & Park

Keyshia Cole hit the BET 106 & Park stage Monday (Dec 20) and performed a mini-concert to promote her newly released album Calling All Hearts.

The R&B singer performed several tracks from the new album (in stores as of today), including the lead singles “I Ain’t Thru” and “Long Way Down,” as well as a few non-singles, like “If I Fall in Love Again” and “Sometimes.” Cole even brought out Tank to perform “Tired of Doing Me” with her.

R&B singer Brandy hit the stage Wednesday night (May 26) for an intimate concert performance at the Key Club in West Hollywood. The singer/reality TV star performed at “R&B Live Hollywood” and her set included classic songs from her catalog of albums in addition to an incredible cover of the Etta James classic “At Last.”

Chris Brown Headlines “Virginia Stand Up! A Call to Action” Benefit Concert

A sold out crowd turned out Saturday night (May 15) to see Chris Brown and his friends perform at the “Virginia Stand Up! A Call to Action” charity concert in Richmond, VA. The R&B/Pop star headlined the benefit concert held at the Virginia Commonwealth University’s Siegel Center and really put on a show for the ladies, as noted by our friends over at Neon Limelight.

After running through uptempo songs like “Gimme That,” “Run It,” and “I Can Transform Ya” — and changing into denim jeans, a black t-shirt, and a denim jacket — Brown slowed things down with a couple of steamy songs from his Valentine’s Day mixtape In My Zone. He pulled one lucky girl from the audience (making sure she was of age), sat her in a lounge chair, and treated her to a up close and personal serenade of “Sex” and a shirtless grind-fest during “Take You Down.”

The singer also brought out guests T-Pain, Keri Hilson, Trey Songz, Tank, Mario and Ryan Leslie to perform their own sets for the concert. Chris even invited Young Money rapper Tyga to perform a collaboration from their new Fan of a Fan mixtape.

The event was organized by Chris, along with the Greater Richmond Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Central Virginia Food Bank, in an effort to help out his home state of Virginia and to give further relief aid to the victims of the January earthquake in Haiti.

Chris, we’re glad to see you giving back to those in need. Keep up the good work!

T.I., Young Jeezy, Lil Scrappy, and Ludacris (photographed from L to R above) were just a few of the names who took the stage Sunday night at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, and according to our boy Freddy O, “everybody that was anybody was in the building!” Other rappers who took the stage were Rick Ross and Shawty Lo.

T.I., brought out by Young Jeezy, was actually a surprise guest and wasn’t originally included in the line-up. Freddy said fans at the show were a little confused since T.I. was supposed to head to prison a couple of weeks back, but a quick Google search will let them know that ol’ Clifford has until May 6th to turn himself in. Ain’t the inna-net grate?!

Weekend Catchup: Tank Got Arrested, Charges Against Tony Yayo Dismissed, and Judge Throws out Suit Against American Gangster

TANK ARRESTED, AND TASERED, IN NEW ORLEANS Â» R&B singer Tank (real name: Durrell Babbs) was arrested after being subdued by a Taser when he tried to walk through a crime scene in the hours after a basketball game, New Orleans police said. The “Please Don’t Go” singer was arrested around 2 A.M. Monday morning (Feb. 18th) in an area of the French Quarter where gunfire had been reported about an hour earlier, Sgt. Joe Narcisse said. Three people received non-life threatening injuries in that incident and no arrests have been made.

Tank, and a lady friend, were leaving a club, and walking to meet their driver when they encountered the police roadblock. According to an inside source, the police were very rude to the two of them in telling them that they couldnâ€™t walk through the area. Like a gentleman, Tank spoke up for himself and his lady friend, telling the cops they didnâ€™t have to speak to them in the way they did. The two proceeded to walk AWAY from the scene, then out of nowhere 3 cops tackled Tank and began using tasers on him. Tank was booked with public intoxication, interfering with an investigation and disturbing the peace by threats, Sgt. Narcisse said. He was later released on bail.

First Trey Songz, and now Tank? The po-po must have a vendetta against male R&B singers! Joe, Tyrese, and Ginuwine better watch out. Usher doesn’t have anything to worry about, as long as he keeps his ~~bodyguard~~ wife with him at all times!

CHARGES DROPPED, BUT TONY YAYO STILL GETS COMMUNITY SERVICE Â» Criminal charges against rapper Tony Yayo were dismissed last Thursday (Feb. 14th), although the rapper pled guilty to a violation, regarding an incident last March involving the 14-year-old son of a rival music executive. In March of last year, Yayo (real name: Marvin Bernard), was accused of slapping the son of music executive Jimmy “Henchmen” Rosemond, who manages a number of top rappers, including G-Unit rival The Game. Yayo and several associates were accused of surrounding the boy and backhanding him across the face for wearing a Czar Entertainment T-shirt during an altercation on W. 25th street in New York. According to reports, that very street houses offices for both G-Unitâ€™s management Violator and Rosemondâ€™s Czar Entertainment and has been the scene of several other violent incidents in the past.

According to Yayoâ€™s attorney Scott Leemon, the G-Unit member agreed to a plea that would allow him to avoid a trial and labeled the violation a “glorified traffic ticket” that will not effect the rapperâ€™s criminal record at all. Yayo will serve 60 days community service, while Scott Fletcher, one of the associates, was sentenced to nine months in prison for his role in striking the boy. Fletcher admitted to striking the teenager the on the night of his arrest in March of 2007, and admitted to the assault again in August of 2007, while being interviewed on unrelated criminal charges. Fletcher claimed that it was he who had assaulted the child and that Yayo restrained him.

SUIT AGAINST “AMERICAN GANGSTER” DISMISSED BY JUDGE Â» The $55 million lawsuit filed against NBC Universal by former federal agents who claim the film American Gangster inaccurately portrayed them as criminals has been dismissed. According to New York’s Daily News reports, Manhattan Federal Judge Colleen McMahon threw out the case last Thursday (Feb. 14th), noting that the New York City Drug Enforcement Agency doesn’t even exist.

“It would behoove a major corporation like Universal (which is owned by a major news organization, NBC) not to put inaccurate statements at the end of popular films,” McMahon wrote. “However, nothing in this particular untrue statement is actionable.”

The lawsuit sought part of the film’s $130 million box-office gross as damages, along with a statement from NBC telling the truth about the DEA’s role in the Lucas case. Despite being told they don’t have a case, the three agents may continue to pursue the matter. “We will appeal,” the agents’ attorney, Dominic Amorosa told the Daily News. “The judge was mistaken.” Amorosa also represents retired DEA agent Gregory Korniloff, who sent a cease and desist letter to NBC Universal in November and also demanded a retraction of statements made in the film.
